Detached Retina

Thanks for the info, I think I will schedule a check up soon. Prevention is always better than cure.

Ladies,
Thanks for your well-wishes.
I do hope and pray hard he recovers soon, although I know it cannot be rushed. All I can do is to remind him NOT to carry anything heavy and put eye drops for him regularly. -
Hope your hubby gets well soon! And do take care of yourself - can’t be easy for the rest of the family, especially yourself.

Thanks ladies,
I will take care of myself. Son has CA1 next week. Have been running around quite a bit…nagging at hubby to remember not to carry heavy things. -

Hi, did doctor remind him to keep his eyes moist? Thanks ladies,
I will take care of myself. Son has CA1 next week. Have been running around quite a bit...nagging at hubby to remember not to carry heavy things. -
The doctor told him to keep his head down so that the gas bubble will push the retina back into original place. He is supposed to do that for 23 hours for 2 weeks. I disallowed him to face the TV and PC and got the kids to keep watch as well.

Keeping face down all the time is not easy and very frustrating. But the eye surgeon told him that it’s very impt and as crucial as the op to get the retina back into position and STICK. He has an appt 2moro morn.

I had this eye disease called Coates Disease when I was 15 and in Sec 4. Retina in right eye was detached and torn. Had the tears laser-welded back. Saw a Chinese sinseh and he said it was because my body was too ‘cool’ when I had a vaccination (can’t remember which). Had to eat steamed pig’s brain as part of the treatment. He also disconnected some qi pathway connecting the two eyes. Otherwise the other eye would adjust itself (for the worse) to compensate for the bad eye (Western medicine calls it ‘sympathetic blindness’).
Can see ok with two eyes but my GP said to avoid strenuous exercises and sports that would cause blood to flow quickly through the blood vessels in the eye. Scuba diving also out as that puts pressure on the eyeballs.
Take care, everyone and cut down on MSG as it’s been linked to retinal detachment in lab rats. -
Hubby has to go for laser treatment for his right eye when his left eye is more comfortable. In the meantime, he has to take care by not carrying anything heavy and not getting his eye wet. Other than that, I do not allow him watch TV, read newspapers and surf Net so that he doesn’t strain his eyes further.

Just accompanied hubby for his doc review yesterday.
The gas bubble is decreasing in size, but a catrarat is forming. His retina has gone back into original place and hopefully it stays there. Next doctor appointment is 2 weeks time, what a relief.
