Detached Retina

Hi, did doctor remind him to keep his eyes moist? Thanks ladies,
I will take care of myself. Son has CA1 next week. Have been running around quite a bit...nagging at hubby to remember not to carry heavy things. -
The doctor told him to keep his head down so that the gas bubble will push the retina back into original place. He is supposed to do that for 23 hours for 2 weeks. I disallowed him to face the TV and PC and got the kids to keep watch as well.

Keeping face down all the time is not easy and very frustrating. But the eye surgeon told him that it’s very impt and as crucial as the op to get the retina back into position and STICK. He has an appt 2moro morn.

I had this eye disease called Coates Disease when I was 15 and in Sec 4. Retina in right eye was detached and torn. Had the tears laser-welded back. Saw a Chinese sinseh and he said it was because my body was too ‘cool’ when I had a vaccination (can’t remember which). Had to eat steamed pig’s brain as part of the treatment. He also disconnected some qi pathway connecting the two eyes. Otherwise the other eye would adjust itself (for the worse) to compensate for the bad eye (Western medicine calls it ‘sympathetic blindness’).
Can see ok with two eyes but my GP said to avoid strenuous exercises and sports that would cause blood to flow quickly through the blood vessels in the eye. Scuba diving also out as that puts pressure on the eyeballs.
Take care, everyone and cut down on MSG as it’s been linked to retinal detachment in lab rats. -
Hubby has to go for laser treatment for his right eye when his left eye is more comfortable. In the meantime, he has to take care by not carrying anything heavy and not getting his eye wet. Other than that, I do not allow him watch TV, read newspapers and surf Net so that he doesn’t strain his eyes further.

Just accompanied hubby for his doc review yesterday.
The gas bubble is decreasing in size, but a catrarat is forming. His retina has gone back into original place and hopefully it stays there. Next doctor appointment is 2 weeks time, what a relief. -

That's scary. I am VERY SERIOUS when I say that these symptoms happen to me. Blurry eyes, even after I shower and am fully awake. And a sort of watery feeling liquidy thing, but in my right eye...Nope, his condition was serious and we didnt realize the symptoms/signs.
His left eye had blurred vision in the morn and hubby dismissed it as tiredness. By noon, it became worse (he said it was like fluid in the eye and couldn't see much). In the evening, that left eye vision was half functional. Thought it was eye infection but GP referred him to A&E immediately.
At A&E, the eye doctor did a detailed check and found that his retina had detached. He told us to go home first (3am). At 8am the next day, a senior doctor checked and called for an op to be carried out in the afternoon. Fortunately we went to A&E in time or he would have lost his vision permanently. I read up on this condition. It happens very suddenly.
Now his retina is back on the original place but he has to bend his head down for at least 2 weeks. -
muffins, looks like you need to see an eye doc, pronto!

Hi Muffins,
I hope your signs aren’t the same as my hubby, but in any case, I suggest you see the doctor immediately. See the GP first and he will refer you to A&E.
Hubby told me his left lower eye had this liquid inside in the beginning and escalated very fast in the late afternoon, that he just can’t see at all.
Yesterday, the doctor told him that if he has floaters in the right eye, we have to go A&E immediately.
