If your spouse will be posted overseas, will you give up your job to stay home so that you can spend more time with your child since the other half is not around?

Sorry if your hubby is going to be posted to China. I think you should go too. It's too risky. Sorry not trying to scare you but sometimes when one gets bored given that they are all alone in a foreign land, things do happen in a moment of folly or when there are too many temptations around.

 agreed with you...i will never agree of his overseas posting if it is in China... :nunchuk: However on 2nd thought, anywhere can be possible. It's really a test for our marriage.

Yes, we can move there as a family but being a KS parent, I'm afraid my DD cannot catch up with Spore's education system if we decide to come back 2 years later coz many told me International school are usually quite relax 😐 .

You can look for a school that follows Singapore Syllabus.

          Yup, I agree.

Tri-mum, As far as it is possible, the whole family should go along, especially if your spouse will be going overseas for more than say half a year. Cos I've heard too many real life stories of bad things happening.

I saw some of them always holding a blackberry to stay in touch with their hub and reporting whtatever thing happenng here.

Yes... it's true. It's not restricted to China. I've heard cases from China, Philippines,etc.... Someone we know eventually gave up his pregnant wife and unborn baby for another woman :x Anyway, the lady is happily remarried. I was just thinking, probably the place with lowest risk IMO is a chinese man going to India to work

I do travel for biz and sometimes up for a week. Hubby and kids will call me every evening but it's just not the same being physically at home. You also want to avoid being on the phone for too long due to call charges,etc... One week is fine but after the 3rd day and enough of exploring around, things will start to get really bored.

                    Ho Chi Minh City?

IMHO, it’d be better for the family to go along, if budget permits. Close the family home up for this period (if not too long). Honestly, it’s better for family togetherness and the kids do remember this as they grow up.

Yes true, it's a different exposure for them.

Talking about phone charges, I have a colleague who went to China for 3 weeks and the phone bill was like more than S$3k!!! :!: :!: :!:

The boss didn't approve the claim because they were all personal calls. Very sad..... 😒 😒 😒
