          Hi Parker,
You will be in Phase 2C for PLMGS because you are not a Methodist. Only the Methodists are eligible for Phase 2B in PLMGS, ACS, MGS etc.

As a Catholic, you are eligible at Phase 2B to all Catholic schools only.

May i know for the buddhist or church clan parents to register their kids in phase2B, have they receive letter from primary school to get their approval to register in phase2B?

For Christians, they need to get a letter from their pastors.
For Catholics, they require the parent's baptism certificate.
For Hokkien Huay Kuan, they need a letter from the clan.
            Not too sure for Buddhists...

Parents have to bring such documentation to the desired schools during Phase 2B. The schools and MOE do not issue any letters coz they won't know which school you want to choose for your kid.

Thought I should give other parents a heads-up especially if your plan is to register your child under 2B using clan affiliation, in particularly - Hokkien Huay Kwan.

My friend was planning to register her child in Ai Tong under Phase 2B this year. They've been members of the clan for more than 2 years. They were informed after the registration results from Phase 2A2 was revealed that the clan will only be giving the letters to members who have been with the clan for 4 years and above. This is because Ai Tong has only 40 spaces left in Phase 2B and the clan feels that priority should be given to longer serving members.

Thus, she can only register for the school under 2C. Even though she's living within 1km of the school, due to the limited space available, it is very likely that balloting is required.

So for parents who plan to obtain priority registration to Hokkien Huay Kwan affiliated schools, do sign up as members as early as possible.
That is the irony. My friend planned to put her child in phase 2A1 in Ai Tong and she lives much more than 2km away, maybe 10km? There is a school just next to her Blk but that school requires balloting within 1km and is a super branded famous school. So my friend lamented that no choice for her. She has to go for Ai Tong in phase 2A1 despite the long distance because there is no guarantee that her child can be balloted in phase 2C for that school just next to her Blk.

If the whole phase 2A scheme is scrapped, there is opportunity for those children who genuinely lived within 1km from school to get higher priority to enter school. With this phase 2A thing, it just decrease the chance of children enrolling into good schools just next to where they live.

interesting case study there, sembgal. Did you ask her if the school next to her blk was a "non-branded" ordinary sch, would she still opt to go for ATS via 2A1 or stay put for 2C for that "non-branded" school? Maybe her position would be different then?

same here...i stay next to Mee Toh. Punggol being a new estate with many young new families...in phase 1...300vacancies, 40 reserved for 2B 2C, 165 grabbed up in phase1, 95 now for 2A1.....and i heard a lot staying nearby Mee Toh also do parent volunteer to secure a place... my neighbour upstairs also didnt managed to get a place in phase 2C few years ago...

lucky i have back up...my hubby's school...a boys' school, but i have another girl to enrol in 2016... Another headache in 2 year's time..
So, having alumni is important! just my little opinions...

#i wanted to put both kids in a coed school...but..in my case, a lot people advise me not to give up a good boys' school.... haiz.. 🤷

Understand tenure is impt criteria, but it's definitely not 4 years cut in stone. If all the other applicants are 6 yr or 10 yr, 4 yrs also no use. A bit like PSLE, depends on the 'cohort' you are with. If all other applicants say 1 year, then obviously 4 yrs will look very good.

Other factors that come into play is the amount of volunteer work you do with SHHK. I joined in some temple activities before, and learnt something about my culture and temple activities. Quite fun actually.
