2014 P1 Registration Exercise for 2015 In-Take

mamemo:
historically, tracing back to the 1970s and 80s, the above schs were always the few which saw high subscription. of course same for NYP, RGPS, ACS, MSHS, SJI, SAS and FMS...
Found this on Straits times website, which is a snapshot of registrations at last year's Phase 2Cphtthp:
...
Next year, perhaps see St Nicholas ballot at 2A1, bypass 2A2
If happen : St Nicholas will create history -
First school to ballot at 2A1, from the CHIJ family.

If you take a look at this year's numbers vs 2013 numbers for Number of registrations up to Phase 2A1, there is not much difference in numbers.
St Nicks in 2013 - 152
St Nicks in 2014 - 156 (+4)
CHS in 2013 - 161
CHS in 2014 - 173 (+12)
Henry Park in 2013 - 224
Henry Park in 2014 - 215 (-9)
Nan Hua in 2013 - 160
Nan Hua in 2014 - 158 (-2)
So balloting at Phase 2A2 is due to the reservation of 40 seats for Phase 2B and Phase 2C. Reservation of 40 seats has a greater impact for schools with smaller intake (say st nicks at 210), as compared to NYPS (at 390)
i think phtthp's idea of \"creating history\" refers not to the subscription nos but to old girls having to ballot now...
but do note that there was once in 1980, to avoid balloting, the sch took them all in by squeezing them into classes of up to 45 pax. historically, despite all the govt policies (i.e. when sterilised moms of 2 got priority over members with 3 or more kids; or when grad mom had priority over non-grad members), catholic schs had try their very best to embrace all their sons and daughters with open arms, either by fitting in more of them, or creating more classes--with the same kind of compassion that former sisters had shown by adopting abandoned baby girls at its gate of hope at the victoria st premises. Similarly, some other mission schs like ACS went all out to open more branches to let more pp enjoy the same brand of education, regardless of econ status, race or religion. it's little wonder why when the children (and grandchildren) grew up, became educated and did well in life, they want to contribute back their \"mother schools\".
we'll see how it pans out for sngs on Mon... :xedfingers:
disclaimer: the above background-sharing isn't meant to mislead or raise false hopes for those going to enrol under 2A2. And certainly not to make others more anxious! Sch priorities and practices have changed now...
all the best to all! -
We have published our analysis for Phase 2A(2) http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/event/2014-p1-registration-phase-2a2.
Good luck to all parents going for P1 Registration this year! -
Thank you Chief, do you see more competition in 2c? Like Henry Park?

To : ChiefKiasu,
What are your thoughts of 2C Ai Tong?
Thank you. -
Hi,
Can the experts please kindly advise, if my DC does not get balloted in xxx school, can we still try again at P2C? Or are the 20 places only solely reserved for those with absolutely no relationship with the school?
Thanks! -

The competition for those schools will be there for at least the next 3 years, until other schools take over as more popular ones.
Those 40 places being reserved for Phases later than Phase 2A seem to affect only about 5-6 schools. For these schools, the competition might actually increase in Phase 2C because those that did not make it via Phase 2A will join the crowd in Phase 2C, since it will be more attractive as there are more places now than in previous years. But its impact is negligible on the rest of the schools which already have more than 40 places left for Phases 2B and 2C. -

Yes. Anyone is allowed to try again at Phase 2C if they meet the statutory requirements. It doesn't matter if they had been successful or failed to get in in earlier Phases.Hi,

I won't bother with Ai Tong if I'm not SC and within 1km of the school. And even if I am, my odds of getting my child in will be much lower than my bet that Argentina will beat Germany tonight. To : ChiefKiasu,

Thanks Chief for your reply.. appreciate it..
I am betting on Germany though
