2014 P1 Registration Exercise for 2015 In-Take
-
As of 4.55pm, 45 will ballot for 27 places (>2km) for Maris Stella.
-
breakdown for Rgps
Total vacancies = 270
Phase 1 taken : 69
2A1 : 41
2A2 : 38
2B : 21
Total seats taken up to 2B = 69 + 41 + 38 + 21 = 169
Thus, remaining vacancies for 2C (next week) = 270 - 169 = 101
101 is a LOT !
last year (2013) : 63 seats taken in 2C : up to 2 km
question
do you think this year : all 101 applicants stay within 2 km ?
or do you think SC > 2 km got chance, just that maybe need to ballot ?

I thought this 2 balls vs 1 ball is only for SC vs PR situation previously, now that SC has absolute priority over PR, this 2 balls vs 1 ball excercise is already obsolete.absolutwild:
i heard those unsuccessful applicants at phase 2b will hv 2 balls during balloting at phase 2c? how true is that? can anyone confirm?
False. Once the phase is over, and you didn't get a school, you are back to square one in the next phase (if you are eligible for that phase).
When you fail at one phase, you go into another phase as a fresh applicant. There is no discrimination/penalty. You start on an equal footing as all other applicants.
Those who failed at P2B may decide to try their luck at the same school again... So, to some, these people get to have a second shot at the school... Like a double chance.
There is no preferential treatment for these applicants.. -

Marymount has lots of vacancies for more than 2km at Phase 2C. However, if parents want a confirmed place in Phase 2C, they will go for Marymount. There may be a few vacancies left over for Phase 2CS and will enter balloting stage based on past historical statistic. But given the fact the Marymount is going to revamp the school facilities and their 2 strongest niches are Rhythmic Gymnastics and Aesthetics, I really think parents should give this school a first choice consideration in Phase 2C which I did last year.
Agree with you phtthp. Now many pple with a gal outside 2km are tempted to try at RGPS at Phase 2C.phtthp:
Total vacancies for 2C : starting next week = 41 + another 62 = 103
103 vacancies : is a lot
High chance of balloting for SC > 2 km at 2C, this year.
Still, balloting always carries an amount of risk.
Parents who intend to withdraw from earlier Phase 1 or 2A, to try Rgps at 2C, pls have a backup school in mind, for 2C Supplementary.
Because once you withdraw from a school, you can't go back anymore -
for whatever balloting outcome that turns out, under 2C balloting.
My sentiments exactly on the need for a good back-up. Haiz, Marymount will be used as the back-up again I guess...
I know of many parents whose first choice girl's school was not Marymount but came over at Phase 2Cs because they could not get a place for their children in other desired girls' school at Phase 2C. To date, they have not regretted their choice.
Just go to the website to read all about Marymount.
Oh, before I forgot to mention, Marymount has student care service provided. The new facilities and the new student care facilities to be built in current premise will be superb in 2017.
I pray for Marymount to have all vacancies filled in Phase 2C this year. -

Those 10 had better look for backup schools in Phase 2C. My friend, a Catholic, couldn't get her child in phase 2B CHIJ TPY last year registration and went straight to Marymount in Phase 2C to secure a place for her girl. They had to send their girl to convent school so Marymount Convent School was their ultimate choice in Phase 2C

But if you have only 1 option in P2B, i.e via PV, then there is really no such thing as waste a chance... It is only \"apply and hope for the best\" situation. Unless you are going thru GRL, then you are able to pick and choose among schools in this 2B phase.

they thought they still got chance to enter.
so, couldn't withdraw in time.
so sad !
they missed this 2B chance.
these 10 can go Marymount, in 2C.
Marymount is safe in 2C, but not at 2C Supp -

The Catholics could have gone to other Catholic girls schools. GRLs could have gone elsewhere... well well, good luck to them at Phase 2C.
