I live within 1km distance for RGPS and NYPS. I am keen to NYPS but the chance for 2C enrollment is quite low.
Some suggestions from my peers is to take a risk to register at NYPS for 2C and back to RGPS for 2CS if it is not successful at 2C in NYPS.
Based on your information and analysis, I will go to RGPS directly at 2C to secure a seat for my daughter.

Rgps won’t go into 2C Supp.

Any remaining places will be snapped up eagerly by end of 2C : by SC > 2 km.

Because a lot of parents > 2 km, are eyeing & targeting Rgps.
There are 2 groups of parents, under > 2 km.

A) one group -
Child not enrolled in any Phase yet.
They are waiting for 2C next week, to enrol.
They are eyeing Rgps, plus some other schools in mind, like a hawk.

B) another group -
Child already been enrolled, from Phase 1 to 2B.

They also eyeing Rgps.
If situation is comfirmed favorable on the last day of p2C (Friday, 1 Aug) -
They are prepared to withdraw from the earlier Phase, re-register for Rgps, and mentally prepared ballot under 2C, > 2 km.

Whatever happen, these 2 different groups > 2 km, must be cautious -
Make sure that only > 2 km confirmed got chance to ballot, then try Rgps.

If last minute on last day of p2C -
a big pool of (1 to 2 km) suddenly turn up, pushing > 2 km totally out without even a chance to smell balloting, better dont withdraw from the earlier phase school.

Rgps won't be available for next Phase 2C Supp :-
because if SC > 2 km don't want, it will be opened up to PRs, who want Raffles Girls primary, very much.

In that last hour : the PRs within 1 km from Hillcrest, are also waiting, want to know if they stand any chance, any hope at all of entering ?

Our school started in 1844.
We had a long thick history, of tradition and values.
This year (2014) : Rgps turn 170 years old.

Since your dd has not been enrolled into any school yet -
You may register into Nanyang today, first day of Phase 2C.

On Friday around 4 pm, once you confirm more or less how many ballot within 1 km at Nanyang, you need to decide : do you still want to go ahead & give a shot at Nanyang ?

If Yes and your dd gets in, she can go to affliated Nanyang Girls High next time, if Able to meet affliated Cut off point.
This would be a very big, important advantage to her : as she can study in a straight through \"Integrated curriculum\", from Sec 1 express until \"A\" level, bypassing \"O level\".

In contrast, for our Rgps girls to get into Nanyang Girls High, we have to work very hard, be it via DSA or via PSLE.

If No, come back quickly and enrol yr dd into Rgps.
(you stationed over there, your spouse stationed here, with a queue number)
Once Phase 2C end until end of Primary 5 (a long period of time) in 2019 -
You may Seek transfer into Nanyang primary (if still keen).

Once 102 vacancies are filled up by end of p2C, full house, Rgps will close door.

then wont be that hot, anymore.

doesnt matter for parents with daughters whether enrol into Rgps, or go Nanyang primary, anymore.

Did newspaper report start from which year they going to remove the Nanyang affiliation ?
Then children affected in those batch wont seek Transfer from Rgps to Nanyang, anymore.

No one can predict the future.

But looking at last year PSLE cut off points, It’s 251 for NYGH ( for NYPS) and 259 for RGS. Both are very high score.

Supposed to be some internal thing. Probably still hot, for parents with more than one child, or planning, at least. Also for the tradition, isn't it?

My point is- if I want affiliation, I would go for CHIJ TPY, St Margaret or Fairfield. Since their cutoff points for students from the affiliated primary schools are much lower at 200. Between RGPS and NYPS- I don’t think that difference in 8 points make much of a difference. ( haha that’s what I say now. Ask me again when my daughter is in P6)
