phthp, that’s 28 SC <1Km excluding the 4 last minute ones. So total 32 out of the 31 vacancies. There are 17 >1Km who lost their chance just like that, after weeks of waiting for phase 2C. Poor thing.

            Hi KYPS,
            I understand your grief.
But it’s something many parents would do to enjoy better odds at balloting.

The rules of the games are clear for all, so we can’t say its unfair to the 17 applicants, although my sympathies are with them

              Hi kyps,

I’m one of the 68 who needs to ballot in KCPPS. The last applicant (68th) walked in close to 4.30pm to register. This caused the entire group to go into balloting. But what can I say. The last applicant withdraw from another school in the last min to enrol in KCPPS. I really feel you but the rules of the game are clear. Lets hope the school absorb the extra child.

Pity these 17 SC outside 1 km.

They were looking forward happily to ballot at Ai Tong, to fight for a chance to enter Ai Tong and now this unfortunate event happen.
Now, these 17 get channelled to Guang yang in 2C Supp, or try other schools in Ang Mo Kio that have vacancies for 2C Supp.

As for 28 SC less than 1 km, initially they thought confirmed get in, no need to ballot. Then now, next Wed they got to ballot. One child have to come out.

Think all affected parents must feedback to MOE.
Eliminate last minute enrolment, by less than 1 km SC.
There must be a cut off time, for less than 1 km.

That by certain time frame say 3.45 pm -
All SC < 1 km : must register.
If those extra 4 turn up to register before 3.45 pm, the remaining 17 outside 1 km at least are still aware, by looking at the white board figures, updated by P1 officer at Ai Tong.
If informed before 3.45 pm, those 17 parents still got time to run down to register at their backup schools.

But if those 4 parents turn up exactly at 4.30 pm on the dot to register -
How you expect these 17 parents to be superman, fly down to backup schools, to register ?

                Something is wrong !
This issue need to be addressed, raised up to MOE.
The 17 affected parents in Ai Tong ought to write in, explain yr plight.

So whAt time did these 4 extra actually turn up, throwing everything off course, without any time for the affected, impacted parents to respond to crisis ?
Poor thing, they waited Phase 2C to arrive, now become like that

What is there to address? :scratchhead:
The rule says closing time 4.30pm, means closing time is 4.30pm. If they step in before 4.30pm, the school will accept them as per normal. As much I empathise the plight of the affected parents, it's a risk they (and everyone else) need to accept when applying for a school > 1km.

You have been encouraging people to wait and see, and apply for a more popular school if there's no balloting or the chances are greater than the one they are enrolled in. Maybe the 4 parents heed your advice?

The rules are ver clear. Even this site advise parents with good strategies to withdraw last min and go to school of choice if their chances are good. ALL parents enter this with Eyes wide open. It is ridiculous to complain every time some little thing makes one upset and demand the government to do something. I admire the parents for trying and sympathize with them. But their are enough warnings for the risks they are taking! It's a game of chess no matter what the changes in rules are, the winners are the master players who put in the time, energy and effort. :celebrate:

No need to complain. No one is selfish. Anything before 4.30pm is legitimate. Same with General Elections. As long as 5 candidates can find $80k and finish all paperwork last minute before cut off time imposed by elections dept, LKY would hv come out to fight for his seat too.

It’s quite different ball games here as distance does affect the outcome of balloting and placement here. I do sympathise with the 17 parents who are subject to this helpless situation. I strongly feel that MOE should address this and perhaps implement different registration dates under phase 2c eg. Those staying less than 1km to register on Day1 , 1-2km on day 2 and lastly more than2km on final day. This would certainly provide a fairer system for all and one can make timely decision.
