Some of the funiture (is / are)

All should be 'is'. 'Each' and 'every' refer to single people.
For phrases with 'some', it depends on the noun. Furniture is uncountable, so the verb is 'is'. For a countable noun, it would be 'are'.
eg. Some of the books are torn.
