          For long sleeve swimsuit -
I bought one for my dd, at Kiddy Palace (Toa Payoh)

Bought long sleeve, so that her arms don't get dark under the hot sun, during swimming from 4 pm to 5 pm, one hour training.
4 pm : the Sun is still very hot

          OG also sell.

            Miaor:
Hi, My 7yo son has started competitive training at Swimfast for half an year. He's been able to progress quite a bit after joining the training there and he does enjoys the training. My concern is the schedule of the training time for the junior kids is kind of awkward. They train from 5:30 to 8:00 on weekdays and my son goes to school for morning sessions. He will have a light breakfast at home on 7am, then a light lunch on 10am during recess, then another lunch on 2pm after arriving home, a snack on 4:30pm before his training and dinner urually ends up on 8:45pm. Ever since he started this schedule, I noticed he seemed losing his appetite a lot and eating really really slow. It often takes more than 1 hour for him to finish his lunch or dinner. He only gained 1kg for this half year and 2cm higher. I'm a bit concerned. Can anyone tell me whether this is normal or I should change his schedule? Feedback on how to feed him better is also very appreciated.

kids grow in spurts so i wouldn't be overly worried as long as he is healthy, gets plenty of sleep (mine naps before training) and a balanced diet. Sometimes, when training is very exhausting, kid loses their appetite and cannot eat immediately. When that happens, i dont force them. It usually comes back after a rest. Most impt is for the kid to enjoy swimming and not get overly stressed.

              Dear All

My son is 8 eight years old and he love to swim. However, because of school work, we don’t really have time to swim except for the one-hour swimming class at APS that he is attending. I understand that Competitive Swimming requires a lot of commitment and at least three times a week of training.

However, swimming seems to be the only thing he loves and is able to do relatively well. Just yesterday, he came in 2nd and 3rd for backstroke and breaststroke in the APS school’s competition. This is despite that he did not even practice at all other than the one hour per week session with the school.

I am lost as to whether we should let him pursue this interest (as I am sure his studies will be affected if need to train three times a week).

Would appreciate if someone can advise how good, ie. time taken for 30m backstroke and breaststroke, before it is worth considering to take up competitive swimming ?

              Please help. Thanks

                Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a great swim coach for stroke correction? My 11 year old daughter is a competitive swimmer but has a few stroke niggles that are not getting fixed at squad. We are looking for 1 on 1 lessons at our condo pool but will travel if we need to. Thanks in advance!

In competitive swimming, we go by 25m or 50m for juniors. To win, kid need to swim below 20 secs for back and 21 secs for breast for 25m. Download meetmobile and check out the timings in the latest midget meet at Singapore Swimming Club. If your kid is +/-5 sec range, its prob worth training him seriously. There are many benefits to competitive swim training which I would highly recommend, regardless of timing.
But if winning is the goal, I would suggest a serious chat with the coach on his potential.

Try Coach Fan of Olympia if she is still available. She trains at Mountbatten swimming complex and used to pffer offer stroke correction but not sure if she is t8o busy now.
