Another question.

      Pls help and explain.

Karen is allowed to use the computer. She must fulfil the conditions set by her parents.

      ____________________________________ provided that

      _______________________.

Karen is allowed to use the computer provided that she fulfils the conditions set by her parents.

      Should be \"fulfil\", not \"fulfils\".
Hi, Just curious why it is not 'fulfils' ?. Thanks.

The thing is, the answer should be: \"fulfils\".

Why? Because \"provided that\" (though \"conditional\" in nature) doesn't quite trigger the SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD. Use the INDICATIVE MOOD, which takes the 's', as Piggylala has suggested.

        http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/provided-that

I've seen this in legal docs, so it's ok.

                (2) not appropriate. The lessons are authorised by an official authority! šŸ˜‰

                (1) is usually used to describe teaching methodology, flow of lessons, no? Contextual clues in preceding sentences: freely, leeway

                      Hi, please help.

I _____ my ex-classmate whom I have not met for many years.

                      a) ran into b) ran across

May I know what is the answer? And why?

                      TIA

                      The answer is (a).

The school teacher has advised the pupils to use \"ran across\" if both \"ran into\" and \"ran across\" are the options provided. Does anyone know the reasons for doing so?
