My sil would like to send my niece to the IP program here if her soon-to-be-released PSLE result is within her expectation. However she is now quite apprehensive due to the feedback given by her colleague about SRJC principal.

Can anyone please shed some light on this principal?

ParkYuni and phtthp, it's inconvenient for me to share publicly.
      Please check my pm.

MyMelborne, could you PM me too? Thank you.

Hi parents, I believe the parents who have voiced out abt SRJC P, their children are not in SNG IP currently cause current SNG parents have confidence in the upcoming new JC Principal. Why I said so?
        - MOE initiated this new JC comprising mostly students from the 3 schools.
Do u think MOE will be laxed in choosing a new P to head this up and coming JC? Don't think so.

        - Now abt SRJC, let me shed some light.
When this JC started and after a few years, its COP was 18-20 only.
However, when Mdm Cheng took over SRJC, its COP has been lowering almost every year.
Its current COP is 11(Sci), Arts(12). SRJC is getting tougher to get in compared to some established older JCs.
The more established JCs COP is still hovering between 13-16 point and never lowered.
On top of that, under Mdm Cheng's leadership, SRJC has been achieving the sustained achievement award (SAA) for Value-Added in academic. SAA is given to school by MOE which consistently achieved good results in academic.
SRJC is 1 of the very few JCs which has been getting this SAA award consistently. U can check out this fact from MOE web site.
If the Sec 4 students don't know abt SRJC achievements, do you think they would choose this JC or their parents would allow them to opt for this JC. They could have chosen other JCs. Then SRJC COP would not have been lowering till the current 11-12 point.

FYI, MOE just scrapped this award this year.

Sorry, I deviated as this is supposed to be CHIJ SNG Forum Thread.
So I urge those parents to give the new P a chance to prove her leadership in the new JC and most imptly, not to spread words.

I wonder by spreading words in SNG thread, is to discourage more students going SNG IP....

        Thank you.

I notice that you are a newbie and this is your first post in kiasuparent forum , having just joined the forum just today 25 Oct.

If what you intend to share is factual, it is absolutely fine to share publicly in this forum. So what's the secrecy ?

            Hi Crester,

thanks for this information ! If Mdm Cheng is able to lower the COP by 7 points in the short span of 3 years that she is there, I think that is an amazing feat.

I understand that she was also a former Cluster Superindentent of one of the school zones in MOE

I would not think that MOE will send a lightweight to head the new JC, especially if this JC is targeted to be one of the top JC.

I remember when I was the pioneer batch in RJC ( oops , now you know my age.. šŸ˜„ ), there were a number of rumours about the new RJC and it's principal as well e.t.c.....not too sure if these were spread by rival schools or colleges. Nevertheless, RJC proved itself to be the top JC today.

I would say this is a good thing, as the more \"rumours\" you hear, you know that your rivals consider you as a strong force to be reckon with.

              EthanEthan:
The new JC is going to be designed by CLP Architects - the same architect that designed SMU and Gardens by the Bay. Apparently , it would have escalators and a glass 'enclosure\" at the top of the building that will give a panaromic view of Bishan Park. The design of the campus blends into the park.

Also the JC will be offering all 3 prestigious program
-Music Elective Programme ( currently offered in ACJC,DHS,RI,TJC)
              - Humanities Scholarship Prog ( currently in ACJC,HCI,NJC,RI,VJC,TJC)
-Bicultural Studies Prog ( currently offered in DHS, HCI, RVHS)

Seemed like MOE have already have very high expectations of the JC.
Architect that designed Gardens by the Bay  ....then we should call the new JC - \"College by the Park\"

Seemed like the new JC will be the only JC to offer all 3 programmes ?

anyone have an Artist impression or a picture , of how this impressive, newly built \"College by the Bay / Park \" grandeur is going to look like ?

We were informed that the new JC will have a 10-storey building with lifts (not sure about escalators, though). The P joked that the new JC could be named 'College By The Park'..

I certainly hope the P was really just joking.. šŸ˜“

Yes.. Pray that it won't be called Bishan JC.. BJC.. :slapshead:

One possible name is Trinity JC (formed by CHS SNGS SCGS).. Hearsay only.. No 'evidence' will be provided.. šŸ˜“

In our MTP meeting, the Principal said some of the suggested names (some tongue-in-cheek)from the girls were

                        Trinity JC
Singapore Nicholas High ( Singapore from SCGS, Nicholas from SNGS and High from CHS )
                        LKY JC
                        College by the Park

.....It would be cool if they really named it LKY JC šŸ˜„

College by the Park is nice too...
