last weekend I was at Vivocity Toy Outpost and saw this product, it is a microscope lens which attaches onto an iphone or galaxy s3 via a special casing... it is called Smart Micro Scope.

bought one and tried it out with my iphone, quite fun! really crisp magnification of things you put under the lens!

quite a good product which satisfy curious minds without having the need to fork out a hefty investment!
Is it more like a magnifying glass?

yup, you can say that since it does offer the magnification effect…

don’t get me wrong, this gadget is not a replacement for a microscope, i’m just saying it can do something similar at a lower cost…

i’m sure many parents out there have many expensive white elephants like microscopes lying around at home… so you might consider getting this gadget to let your kid play first…

If you need to buy the microscope through online, you have to search more by taking more time. Since there are numbers of online sellers for the microscope in the web. So you have to choose them correctly

Actually I just bought microscopes today for our tuition center biology classes. I went to the Singapore Science Center shop where they sell telescopes and Microscopes. I got the Celestron Model Micro 360 for a little under $300. I was just looking at a bunch of slides with it and it is a good basic Microscope. It is battery powered which I like and has a light both below and above the sample. This makes it easily portable and you don't have to plug it in. I use rechargeable batteries in case someone forgets to turn the light off.

It has two eyepieces and 3 objective lenses, so magnification is 40x/64x/100x/160x/400x/640x.

They have other more expensive models too if you want something fancier.

I've got a good compilation of biology as well as interesting physics things to look at. There really are a lot of neat things to see under a microscope if you know what to look at.
