Hey quixation! I beg to differ. t-scores are not the cause of a non-\"holistic\" education. It is the narrow definition of competency in 4 mandatory subjects that created the problem. Changing t-scores to banded grades is only a placebo. It won't solve any long-term problems at all.

Chief kiasu, I totally agree. I term this switch to banded grades as emperor's new clothes. How will placement be done .... I'm still scratching my head.

Agreed. Now we can still discuss on the COP based on the fine T-score. When it becomes banded grades, we probably will be scratching our head why your dc A*A*AA can go RI and my A*A*AA can only go ACSI.[/quote]Quite true...

I'm still scratching my head.[/quote]Maybe should just go back to the old system, where total marks are compared. Except this time, maybe just use 3 mandatory subjects - English, Math and Science. Leave MT out of the computational and just use Distinction, Merit,Pass or Fail grade for the MT. Only those who gets Distinction for MT can take HMT in secondary schools or to SAP schools.

What i meant was searching for highest t score instead of looking at mean average of the cohort or national levels. Sure t score helps in COP and gauging a pupil’s competency in the respective subjects…but emphasising on who & which school and which race was the top student who obtained the highest t score, i scratch head

A lot of schools still do not have any update on the highest Tscore yet. Can KS parents please help and check around, and come back to this thread to update please ?

Only when any score can end up in any school then perhaps it clearly shows that all schools are the same and equally good. No need to scratch head too much.
