kids are kids..no matter how well they have done in PSLE, they are still kids. Not all will be mature enough even though they can be very intelligent. That is what schools are for...to lay a proper foundation-by foundation, I don't just mean the knowledge, but a positive learning attitude and a general positive attitude towards life. And thsi attitude thing is very crucial in deciding how far the child will go, not just in the shorter term A level result but the entire life.Yes, I agree about the discipline point. As you know, the juniors look up their seniors for almost everything. I always believe, schools and parents should work hand in hand and closely for study, morale and discipline issues. We cannot push the responsibility to the schools but on the other hand, we know our kids spend the most time in schools and schools are definately a place that would affect them a lot.
Compare to DHS and Maria Stella High, it seems the parents are more well informed about the school happenings. I really hope RV can improve in this area.

I don't think so.
heard that it can be done. students have to apply directly to the school and join rv in yr 5. -

Even it can be done, should not be in year 5 because its too late to be involved with their IP programes. I know one can use year 2 results to get into other IP JCs but not sure about RV.daisyt:

Should be somewhere in May, but exact date, don't know yet. Someone would post it here once we know the exact date.

Hi! Everybody . I just joined this forum today. My child is in RV Year 4 less than 2 years she will be stting for A levels...
I am a Kiasu parents...always thinking ahead for my child education...
I am just wondering it is too early for my child to take A Level tuition now??? But less than half Year my child will be in Year 5...
The cost of my child current tuition is almost 1.5k each month...
But at least she is getting A grades...
This is to ensure that she gets into the local U to the right faculty...
So worry!!! :frustrated: -
Hi dolphinsiah, welcome!!
Hope you donβt mind me asking, which subjects your child is having tuition and since when?
I think since you have locked in your objective for her to go local uni, there is nothing kiasu about your act. And to start preparing for A lvl now, i feel its about time, if your child is able to manage time well.
Amazing!!! As for all subjects??? Wow!! :!: -
Thanks for the warm welcome!
My child currently is having tuition in
-Chemistry
-Maths
-GP
-HCL
I understand that the Principal has already told the Year 4 students they need to score GPA at least 3.5 to make it to Year 5.
Which means that most subjects must be A1 or A2.
My concept is that I better make sure the tuition teachers is able to help my child to do when and to go to the local U.
If not by sending my child to oversea it will cost me more worries and $$$ -
Hi dolphinsiah, so glad to have higher level parent here! So your child is in e triple science stream? Whats your child subjects combi? 3.5 gpa is very high (no wonder u r worried) ... I thought for year 4 & 5 is 3.0 gpa? New changes by the new principal?
I am worry too ......
