Precisely!
Sorry, I mean the raw scores. Both languages are 200 each, Math and Science is 100. Total 600. Why?
This is wrong info. All subjects bear equal weightage.dimsum:
The weightage for both languages is 200 while the rest is 100.
Why is this so? -

Precisely!
the marking scheme is based on 200 marks, it is then normalised to 100

Why is this so?
there are many components in the CL/EL, so based upon 200 marks will allow for more precise award of marks to the condidates
it does not mean twice the weightage -
Latest update…
4A* : max 280 min 256 ( anyone knows any lower score, pls adv. )
3A*, 1A : max 264 min 252
2A*, 2A : max 259 min 245
1A* 3A. : max 257 min 240
4A: max 250 min 240
Anyone who knows , under the same banding, Tscore higher than the above max, or lower than the above min, pls adv.
Thank you ! -

Incorrect assumption.ngl2010:
3A*, 1C (CL) 258
I have doubts?
The best T-score is 280, 280/4 = 70
Let us assume 3A* = 3 * 70 = 210
258-210 = 48
1C (CL) could get 48 marks?
T score should be treated differently from raw marks.
No indication that the best scorer got the highest score for all subjects. Per subject it is even possible for the T score to be greater than 75.
What can be definitely said is t score of 50 for a subject indicates the child got the average raw marks .
And all subjects carry equal weight-age.
However, even with same raw marks for different subjects the T score for each subject could be greatly different. -

That's what I thought. So if MT CL A*/A is 84%, it must mean that an A in MT CL can still get below average, ie. <50 for the T-score?
But I thought some of the complaint is that MT CL drags down by too much the T-score of a child who is not good in MT CL? Does this mean 'not good' in MT CL actually means 'really horrible' in MT CL? Then again, can't be the case if 3A* 1C (CL) can still get 258, right?
So does MT CL affect the T-score too much or does it affect it too little? I am getting conflicting signals here. :? -

I assumed 3A* equal 210, because it is already at the very very high end in the reasonable range, even I assume 3A* equal 220, T-score 38 for 1C(CL) is still too high.

An A* for t score of 70 is way too high
More likely in the region of 65, plus minus -

politically suicidal...
there was a major outcry when the former education minister previously casually suggested to reduce weightage of MT in PSLE tscore....the PM and the then EdnM had to jointly hold press conference to assure the public they are equal weightage.....
MOE website still had the relevant press release I guess
MT's weightage has been a very touchy issue, tantamount to sacrilege if any how change !
