Cedar Girls Secondary School
-
My dd is keen to join the Performing Arts if she gets a place in Cedar.
Anyone cares to share how cca allocation is done in Cedar? Are the girls encouraged to try out at all auditions, or only a selected few? Any comments on Cedar handbells n guzheng? Dd is very impressed with Cedar Choir. Dd was not from any Performing Arts cca in her primary sch. Would that put her in a disadvantaged position?
I believe the school website is not updated with their ccas' achievements. Last update for Cedar Handbells was a silver award in 2009 n nothing thereafter :?
There will be a CCA week where there will be auditions and trials for the girls to try out all the CCAs. At the end of the “exercise\", the girls are allowed to choose 6 preferred CCAs. Hope my memory doesn't fail me ! -

You are welcome !
Hope it helps in your decision making. Cedar is a very vibrant school and from what I observed for my dd, the girls are very closely knitted though from different ethnic background and culture. For my dd, if there is anything she is unsure, she always check with her teachers or her seniors in the same CCA are more than willing to coach her. -
Kum siah then @iFirefly ...:)

I see. For my dd, we did tell her that with EESIS it is still $100+. [/quote]What are Cedar's fees? I didn't find that info readily on their web site. I saw that http://scgs.edu.sg/fees.php?id=1.
Both are great schools. We did consider the difference in fees, but did not reveal it to dd in case she put a big consideration on that. Important for us is the distance from home. That helped in our decision making when all else is considered.Olive3:

Same here. But please do consider the school fees for both, they are very different. If you hv EESIS it might help a bit -

Cedar O level and IP school fees the same.
What are Cedar's fees?
I didn't find that info readily on their web site.
I saw that http://scgs.edu.sg/fees.php?id=1.
no difference
for Sg citizen :
O level and IP , both same : $ 28 per month
for PR :-
$143 per month -

If both schools follows the same education teachings and standards, I don't see any reasons to pay more unless there are some special programs that scgs offers on top of the normal curriculum.

Wow! SCGS is almost 10 time as much! A big difference, esp. for lower income families.

I wonder why. Does Cedar get some kind of MoE grant that SCGS does not? -
I believe that SCGS is an independent school. As such, the charges are higher than Cedar which is a Govt school.
