      Hi,

Can anyone help with the following questions that I have:

      1) Can students wear PE attire to school on days without PE lessons?
      2) Is it necessary to wear the school socks? Can wear normal white socks?
      3) Any advice on which CCAs to join?

      Thanks.

Full uniform on days without PE. After PE lesson, must change to full Uniform.
Some students hv been wearing white socks this year, so far no problem.
Choosing of CCAs based on one's interest.

Pay attention to the school rules and regulations and the child will hv no disciplinary issue.

Our school underwent an External Validation Exercise from 26 Feb to 2 Mar 2015 this year led by a team comprising MOE officials from the Schools Appraisal Branch, Principals, Cluster Superintendents and Heads of Departments. We are proud to announce that our autonomous school status has been renewed for the next 6 years (2015 – 2020) and we have once again been awarded the School Distinction Award! We have also been recognised for all the 5 Best Practices accorded by MOE, namely Teaching and Learning, Student All-Round Development, Character and Citizenship Education, Staff Well-Being and Development and Partnership! This validation exercise has re-affirmed that we are an institution of excellence not only in the area of the academics but also in providing a myriad of rich learning experiences for our Zhonghuarians guided by sound values and a sense of mission! We are grateful for our committed internal stakeholders (parents, members of the School Advisory Committee, alumni) and external strategic partners in support of our educational endeavours. We are poised now to soar in our next lap of the school’s journey to develop Scholars and Leaders of the Future! Well done everyone!

Zhonghua is a very good school. Check out the school's website. You will know what I mean. How many schools actually share the students' reflections and current activities online? Well, zhonghua does.

Anyway, an announcement which I wish to share after finding out.... The school's open house is this saturday, 7 Nov. Don't miss it!!!! :boogie:

Your ds or dd will never regret choosing zhonghua as a secondary school.

It is a good school, but not one of the better schools available in Singapore.

I witnessed how the school dealt with Amos Yee at the beginning of his teenage years (NB: His vid on CNY) and it was poor handling to say the least. I've been wanting to say this for a long time. Let's just say that teachers weren't the only ones punishing him, he was bullied really badly online and offline by NA/NT students (threats, vulgarities, insults). His actions were immature, rude and arrogant, but as respected authorities, the teachers should not have punished the bullies less harshly. After undergoing the shame of being bullied, he had to do a public apology to the entire school, possibly under the threat of teachers, I don't imagine he'd willingly do it. Here is what I think: The bullies should have been more heavily dealt with. The things they said were 10000 more offensive than \"CNY is a copycat of America's new year\", the bullies did not do a public apology. It is uncivilized to think it is okay for bullying to go on just because someone toed the line, controlled punishment yes but just NO to bullying. I think the unfair treatment led to a lot of pent-up indignance towards authorities, which eventually reached consummation in his current form. I don't think he was properly listened to/received good counselling when he was a young teenager, when his mind was still malleable (can't ignore the fault of parents in this case).

Well. He went into ZHSS as someone who dispenses his opinion arrogantly on topics that are legal, and he went out as someone who is vulgar, rude, and a criminal. Who can influence a young teenager? Parents and teachers. ZHSS had a role to play that we can't ignore. I seriously think the CNY video was the crux of his life 😄 😄 but that's just my opinion!

Hi, I think this is a bit too serious to be speculating  ... And well, how do you know what those bullies said?(Sry, I didn't fully follow on that story because Amos Yee wanted attention, I'm not giving it to him.) Also, I think racism is much more serious then whatever those bullied said, what they said may have affected him badly, but it probably won't cause a war? So ya... Anyways, instead of influence, they may have just not stopped him and he thought it was fine and went from bad to worst? I'm not speculating, I'm pointing out some of the many possibilities that could have happened instead, without siding with any, I'm saying it's possible, I'm not saying it probably is.

I would hate to be siding him, im just pointing out my observations as a bystander (the bullying on his personal fb or otherwise). And nah im not speculating. I wont (and will not) comment on the size of the role that zhss had in the creation of his current self, but as prev mentioned, it is undeniable that the school has had a part to play since the start of his disobedience. its funny how online sites are all placing the blame on his parents when the school is also responsible for how a child turns out! Teachers & parents = the two main authorities in any child’s life, and that is no speculation.

                      Hi, looking for some advice.

My boy is in p6 this year and base on his results, I’m guessing he might fall within the range where he has the choice to go express or normal. I’m looking at sending him to zhonghua if that happens.
I wanna know if the Teachers teaching normal are just as motivated and enough support is provided for normal academic? Is there any parents with kids in normal who can advise me more? Thanks in advance.

I don’t want to speculate on Amos Yes. Well, he is currently in solitary confinement in US jail for insulting Muslim and that said a lot about him.

Anyway, let’s get back to how the school is.

My son just graduated and is now at Be a Ching. He did well beyond our expectations and we have to thanked his teachers for it.

However, it was not always smooth sailing. Over the 4 years, there were some teachers that he found not so good, although generally in the minority.

For a neighborhood school, it has been doing generally well, given the COP is around 236 to 237 range.

But what I noticed that overall GVE O Level results have deteriorated since the change of principal when my son was in Sec 1.

But, overall it is still a good school and discipline is strict.
