Lolmum, I Realised that too. When I go NTUC, things are so expensive than before. $100 last time can buy alot of things but now $100 can buy me fewer items. Which is why now I also cut down on baking. Now maid salary also go up, food items also up, hospitalization bill also up. Everything is up and up except for my salary.

yes peapot, hospitalization bills are really expensive now and must go thru each item listed on bill carefully and make sure there is no extra or double charge. if possible bring your own stuff like diapers for adults or kids.

about a month ago, i went to a dr near my place cos i was feeling really sick (fever and bad cough) and my bill was S$110. :scared: this is definitely my most expensive bill for a fever and cough consultation and medicine. the consultation itself is more than 25% of the total bill. it was just normal cough syrup (same as the one my sis had from her hdb dr) and one 5 day antibiotics.

Interesting topic. I don't. Shouldn't monthly budget be the same unless there is holiday or big item purchase? If so why bother to do every month.

Does your budgeting refer to allocating a fixed amt of $$ each month for household expenses?

Yah, it's quite regular. But when I compare to actual... I 'm very obsessive about tracking where big costs are so that I know where to cut back on when needed.

It's always the holidays and household maintenance stuff that throws the entire thing into whack. Sometimes got sudden need to replace/repair something in the house. We may also add new activities for kids like music class or fencing, which are completely unplanned. I start quite conservatively for holidays and then increase over the months as I add days or activities. Luckily, DH tends to have bigger budget in his head for holidays. He just doesn't share that number with me. Scared I will bust that bigger budget if I know about it. Like for our holiday last year, he planned for $20k but I managed to come in way below that.
