Me : But i did give you. Gave you and your sis some plastic bottles & newspapers..

DD2 : Ya, but it's not enough, Mummy... :please: let me bring some more to
school this week..

Me : I gave you most of it already, and besides... there are a few i have yet
to read or finish reading, so cannot give yet.

DD2 : But you have sooo many! Let me bring some more to school... :please:

Me : When i have more ok.. besides... we can always give it to the rag'n'bone man..

DD2 : But i want to bring it to school to give it to my teacher.

Me : Fine, lets make a deal. I can give you MY token from my box and you can
use the $ from the rag'n'bone man to get yourself stickers... more than what
teacher will give you anyway...

DD2 : But..

Me : Now DD2... tell Mummy... which is better in your opinion? Teacher's sticker

DD2 : Awww, this is hard..

Me : It's settled then yah.. you help me arrange the newspapers and when he;
the rag'n'bone man comes... you help me give it to him... and the coins are yours.

Here's the deal... Half of what you have, i pass to teacher this week and she
will give me the sticker AND the token... After which the other half, i will help
you give to the rag'n'bone man when he comes over the weekend... then you
can give me YOUR sticker and the special token from your box... AND... AND..
you said i could have the coins too, right? So... is that a great idea or what,

Some weeks ago, I was coaching DD1 in reading aloud in Chinese. She was sitting next to me on the sofa and as usual, her mind always wanders when it comes to Chinese lessons.


DD1 (after staring at my profile for some time): Mommy, what is gussy?

DD1: Or is it goosey?
Me: :?
DD1: There.... (pointing at the side of my specs frame)

The 'Gu' part is g-aah.. and the
'ci' part is sounded as soft 'c' sound...

But when she sounded the whole word out, didn't sound
too glam... :lol: ... in fact like pasar malam brand. :laugh:

Ya lor. When I pointed out to her the pronunciation and spelling for \"ciao\" (which she can say correctly but doesn't know how to spell), she gave me strange ways of reading \"ciao\" too. :roll:

DD1 (now 8yo) has a teddybear called Sam (name is as indicated on his foot). She has had it since she started to crawl. When she was between 1yo and 2yo, the following \"conversation\" took place.

DD1 kept calling Sam \"Mah\" for reasons unknown to us so we kept trying to correct her.
sashimi: DD1, repeat after Daddy. \"Sam\".
DD1: Mah.
sashimi (not giving up): Try again. \"Sam\".
DD1: Mah.
sashimi (still not giving up): Say \"Ssssss....Sam!\"
