Well, I am one year into violin lesson now, and well, my left hand fingers do have more calluses compared to the right hand fingers, but so far I do not detect any loss in sensitivity in the fingers. So, perhaps for Guzheng, should be similar?

My dd is 3.5yo now. Thinking if we should send her to a musical school as she seems interested in learning piano. We bought a cheap cheap electronic piano for her to play for fun last year. She seems enjoys when she pretends to play some piano songs as there is a button for step-by-step playing. It is really not a good starting as she doesn't learn the piano in a proper way... Not sure if my dd is serious on the learning also.... me and DH are not good any musical instruments at all so not sure if we should send DD to a musical school to learn. We also worry if DD will just stop learning if she finds the learning process of piano is not as simple as like just press the buttons on her \"electronic\" piano.

Can any of you advise on this?

Maybe you can find a private teacher who can teach her for leisure first and try to make piano learning fun. 3.5 years old is rather young though. Sometimes it might be hard for her to remember much during the lesson but as long as she gets some fun in learning it slowly, it will definitely be good for her. Maintaining the interest in it is an important factor for her. If she is able to sit still for half an hour, it might be worthwhile to engage a piano teacher for her.


You can start by telling the teacher songs which your daughter is familiar with so she can learn how to play it. It will give her a sense of accomplishment and make her interested to learn more.
