Do you have parents or in-law, staying near HWS, or at least got school bus pass by their area ?

If Yes, Mon to Fri : let your child stay at their place, ask school bus to fetch them there. Weekend, then go back your Bishan house.

Or rent out your Bishan flat, in turn rent another place closer to HWS,

Or morning, drive your kids to school.
After school, send them to student care centre.
At night after work, then fetch them home yourself, before the centre close.

        Zing:

Just called the school bus provider if they pick up students from Bishan... The operator gave me a surprised tone and asked why do I enrol my kid in HWS when I stay in Bishan? Should just enrol into a school in Bishan or <2 km. she say the driver normally only take in students staying within 2km from school as they need to take on other job as well. Haha, seems like I have another wake up call now.
        No school bus... :slapshead:
Did you try other numbers? There should be plenty more numbers to try. it is not a strange phenomenon..have heard of Sengkang/Punggol who enrol in HWS or for that matter, I have heard of CCK who balloted under Phase 2C into other prestigious primary schools xx km away. Bishan to HWS not that bad already.

          Hi Zing,

just share my point of view.

HW is not so "hot" like NYPS, RGPS, therefore, the sch bus network tend to be limited. Unlike those very hot sch, a lot of kids come from all over the island, and transport is easily available. Even if u find sch bus, most likely it might be more expensive, or kids going to sch very early n coming home v late…

For eg, my ds used to go Peichun at TPY, but apparently it is not a popular sch for whampoa, every year new P1 limited to 3-4kids only. So its very hard to find transport to PeiChun especially it is double session sch.

Somehow CHS is very popular among Whampoa ppl surprisingly, just at my mum’s block there’s 3 kid including mine, so I can hv lesser problem w sch bus, n fees is comparable to PeiChun even though its further.

You may also like to check how many days of stay back needed even if eventually u can find transport, cos for those days u probaly need to pick up the kids urself.

I was a pv at HW ( hw is walking distance fr whampoa) for my elder ds, at times I regret my choice of choosing a further sch, my mum had to help me pick for 3days/wk due to ds stay back late. N worst when bus fee was $80 3yrs ago when my ds started p1…this yr my dd2 start p1… It is $150 n comes hm very late too.

Yes sch bus only ferry kids nearby only. I got the same surprised tone two years back -_-'.

We stay in sengkang. In e morning , daddy sends him to sch and we leave our house at 635am, reaching sch around 7-710am. He goes to after sch care. I had an arrangement w my boss to come in early and goes off early n leaves the office before 5pm each day. I took public transport to his school n upon fetching him, we flag a cab home. More time is saved as compared to taking train and LRT on e way back each day. On days I have to leave office late, I asked my parents or in laws to pick up the boy.

Thanks for e input everyone, seems like we have to drive our kids to school and pick them home on our own daily. Hopefully we will still have a car by next year as our car is going 10 yr old in Aug. At times really want to just enrol my son in any neighbourhood school Ard our estate for convenience sake but on e other hand would really love to immense my kids in SAP j rich in Chinese culture and language which I think will be beneficial to them as they grow up. Not to mention HW is my Alma mater, whereby the bond is even stronger. Haha, 3 more months to go.. can't wait for it to be over for a load off my mind.

              🙂

Hi Zing, seems your mind is made up. From past stats, you should not have to worry about getting in.

Happy that you have such strong feelings towards your alma mater and that your next generation will be part of this HWS family.

                See you around soon!

I think all kids will be given the form and a nil return is required. So even the kiam chye has to be returned on pain of getting scolding from teacher? There should be PTM before June hols. Can ask teacher also then. 😉
