All About Affiliations between Pri & Sec Schools

Hi all mummies out there,


Need your advice on this…Saw from the MOE school info service that St Theresa’s Convent is affliated to CHIJ OLQP. I would assume that former STC students will have priority for P1 registration to CHIJ OLQP. However, when i called CHIJ OLQP to enquire, they replied that there is no affliation at all, only that their P6 graduands have priority to enter STC but not vice versa.

Can someone enlighten me on this?

Yes, only parents who were former CHIJ OLQP graduates would have priority in P1 registration into the CHIJ OLQP.

So if you were formerly from STC (but a different primary school), you would not have any priority if u plan to send ur daughter to CHIJ OLQP.

NYPS is affiliated to NYGH tho. And NYGH however, has a IP programme that goes into HCI in Year 5 & 6 (previously under Hwa Chong JC).

Thanks for your reply..but the thing is I am from STC primary too but have no priority in CHIJ OLQP P1 registration....

Shouldn't there be some indication on the website of some sort to inform parents of such info...else some may think that they are eligible for Phase 2A when they are not...

U can only qualify under 2A if you are a ex-student of CHIJ OLQP. It being affliated to STC only applies for P6 students going to sec1, which is an entirely different thing from P1 application at all.

I am new to this forumn. Can I check with you, if my daughter is in St Nicholas, will my son be entitled to P2A if I were to enrol him to Catholic High or Maris Stella?
I had this impression that St Nicholas, Catholic High and Maris Stella are "brother - sister" school.

The reason why I asked is becos last time when I was a student in St Nicholas, I remembered my friend’s younger brother was entitled to go to Maris Stella.
Was there a change in school policy? Wondering where I can get some clarification…

i think that policy was a looooonnnng time ago. I remember getting my sister into MGS when I was in ACS. I think the policy has been discontinued.

Yes, i've heard of that practice years ago. . But definitely these days it does not hold. Now all schools follow MOE admission policy for p1

i hv 1 girl in st nics and boys in cath high - no affiliation betwn them for p1 registration
