my niece in SCGS SecondaryHi parents, I'm an education reporter for The Straits Times. The completion date of the new JC will be pushed back from mid-2018 to end-2019. The holding site for the JC has also changed, from Bishan Street 14 to Mount Sinai (near Holland Road).
These changes mean that current Year 2 and Year 3 students will not get to study at the new JC campus at all, and may have to make new travelling plans with the change made to the holding site.
Any affected parents here? Do contact me at [email protected] or PM me. Cheers.

think parents don't mind, if the temporary holding site is somewhere nearer to Bishan, instead of Ghim Moh
however, combining the 3 schools together (SCGS, SNGS, Catholic High boys) would need a big campus space.
not sure if there is any nearer vacant JC or place nearer to Bishan for temporary use, yet big enough to accommodate these 3 schools.
If can find one, will be great if can consider alternative temporary site -
Hi parents, sorry to bother. My name is Amelia and I'm an education reporter for The Straits Times. I'm doing a story on the new junior college that the IP students from SCGS, SNGS and Catholic High are joining. The MOE has asked a traffic consultant to study the traffic patterns around the three current school sites and do a forecast of the new campus' traffic flow. I'm hoping to speak to parents whose children who are entering the new junior college in 2019 (Secondary 1 this year), just to ask if how the traffic is like at the current schools. It'd be great if you could contact me at 91903116 or [email protected] today, thank you.

My view is that if it is not possible to find a suitable holding site near to the original site (which is in Bishan), MOE should allow those affected students have the option to change to other IP JCs which are nearer to their homes.Hi parents, I'm an education reporter for The Straits Times. Thank you for your support, woodgrove. I know your dd is from St Nic, right? It seems that I am the only affected parent in SCGS. :?

Most of the affected students are expected to be from St Nic & Catholic High since their school are located near to Bishan & quite a number of them are staying around that area.
It should not be too bad for SCGS students as the temp site at Mt Sinai is actually not far from SCGS. In fact some SCGS students may even benefit as the distance is shorter compared to traveling to Bishan.
Also I don’t think there is any MRT station at the new site yet that is within walking distance.
We attended the talk by the new JC principal. According to her, the temp site was carefully chosen (formal RJC) and will be renovated for our girls. -

Think about it. When a building is refurbished for a Temporary 3 year purpose how good can it be? In fact, one of the parent queried the new principal on the quality of the facilities and her reply was something along the line of \"I didn't say it would be top-rate facilities but I said it would have what a jc should have\" -
Frankly, I am more concern on the quality of the teachers which is a big unknown. But I understand your point that all parents are disappointed that our girls in sec 2 and 3 could not enjoy the new facilities. For the sec 1 girls, it is also disruptive to change campus after getting use to the temp site. Unfortunately, there is nothing we could do about the delay. So at the meantime, just stay positive.
