Don't think parents want to take advantage of the situation. They just want a dialogue with the authorities to discuss the way going forward. In any case, traditionally many CHS and SNG students end up in Hwa Chong JC and for SCGS NJC before all the IP Programmes were started. I am not saying they should be routed there but this is the quality of the students we are talking about.
Taking advantage of this situation to switch the IP to RI might be difficult because I would think the students can't make the cut for RI or RGS based on PSLE score. CJC might be more suitable because of its established history and location which is close to all 3 feeder schools.blurblob11:
HCI/NYGH cop may not be attainable for most of the pupils who choose CHS, SNG & SCGS IP.
Other than SNG IP, the cop of the other 2 schools are not even near those of NJC and DHS.
As it is this year, CHS IP cop is already at the 'near' minimum of any IP schools cop.
And someone suggested that RI may expand their campus to take in these affected pupils. But as a matter of fact, their cops are also not at par for most.
These students can park there until 2020. -
Both Phttph and blurbob are right in their own ways.
As Woodgrove rightly pointed out, the very good students from the 3 feeder schools are always prized catches for the top IP schools. With the uncertainties surrounding the new IP JC, the better students' parents may decide to take a safe route to opt for the more established IP schools, thus raising the demand, which may in turn raise the COP in the process. For year of admission 2015, the 3 secondary schools highest PSLE admission scores all exceed 26X , imagine this group being channeled to RI/HCI/NJC/VJ....
On the other hand, we need to recognize that the 3 schools have been slow in introducing IP and have been disavantaged in attracting top PSLE scorers to join them. They are trying to catchup but now they are off to a rocky start. -
Yes, I agree with both woodgrove and lee_yl.
Hence I chose the word ‘most’ and not ‘all’.
We can’t quantify the numbers as to how many pupils from these 3 schools ended up in top JCs like ri and hci for current graduates. But I am of the opinion that since, for example, cop for 2013 intake is as follows:
hci - 258
sng ip - 255
chs ip - 252
scgs ip -252
there is a disparity between hci cop and the 3 schools.
I am sure there are quite a number of top pupils from these feeder primary schools already joining other top IP schools too and thus not in this category of affected pupils, further widening the disparity. -
cop for 2014 intake:
hci - 256
sng ip - 255
chs ip - 251
scgs ip - 251
njc - 255
dhs - 256
cop for 2015 intake:
hci - 256
sng ip - 253
chs ip - 249
scgs ip - 250
njc - 254
dhs - 253 -
Affected parents of the IP programme of the 3 schools, please PM me if you wish to join a closed parent support group

Just pointing out a fact, it should take about 10-12 mins to BV mrt. Google maps states different timing its becos Mr.Google wouldnt walk thru blocks. And Mr. Google may not know there is a side entrance, off Ghim Moh, so no need to go around till Mt.Sinai road.
It should be 17 or 18 minutes by walking, based on the google map estimate, with a walking distance of 1.7 km. You can walk the distance and let us know.sinoboy:
주소 : 53 시내 산 도로, S (276880). You take the MRT to Buona vista MRT station and walk for about 7 to 8 minutes and you'll reach there.
By the way, my DH used to walk towards the location where Dover MRT is roughly now to take 147 back to Bukit Merah. Yes, it is still within walking distance to Mt Sinai but not that near. -

Be it 12 mins or 15 mins, this is probably not the most important consideration for the affected parents at this juncture.

As an affected parent, I would appreciate it if the authorities look into creating new shorter/express bus routes between AMK/Bishan/Toa Payoh Int and the Mt Sinai/Ghim Moh area. The public and students studying in other schools around that area who are staying in these 3 towns will also benefit from the new routes.

Hi eveyone!
cat high is one of my consideration thou it’s good to build some network here. Looking forward for some great tips. Many thanks -
Maybe someone is right where CHS, SNGS & SCGS were too late in joining the IP wagon. Definitely the DSA 2015 (Sec 1 in 2016) would be a way affected & parents would go for a better established IP schools.
When would the 1st batch of IP going to take A level?
