MOE informed:
http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2012/11/release-of-2012-psle-results.php
\"IP students from CHS, CHIJ SNGS and SCGS will spend their first four years in their respective secondary schools, before they progress to a new government JC in 2017. For the initial batches, the new JC will operate at an interim campus to be located at the current ITE College Central (Bishan Campus). The interim campus will be fully furnished and equipped with the necessary resources for students to fully benefit from an enriched IP curriculum. More details of the permanent site will be released later.

Then the authorities need to honour their words. It is both written and verbally communicated.[/quote]
Why must they honor their word if subsequent site investigation found it to be unsuitable or built at an exorbitant cost ?
Nothing is cast in stone and it is fool hardy to die die must build there at all cost just for the sake of a few students -

Thanks for pointing out. This is an important piece of information that unaffected parents are not aware of. Put ourselves in their shoes, we will definitely pursue the matter.
You mean you didn't know? see i not your enemy la. Help you unearth more salvo to fire. :siam: -
OK so much digression to RJC which has nothing to do with this new JC.
So back to Le Petition. Can all brothers of Cat High and (sisters of SNG and SCG if nearby) wear your 7 buttons uniform and march into Teck Ghee MPS office tonight and chorus the Cat High school song until PM arrives to meet people (or will he not be on duty tonight?). This is called DRAMATIC EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL...
Don't help juniors, no more GOH for 80th anniversary dinner..will invite CSM instead...muahahaa...Just kidding!!! :clubmyself:

Did it go back to the undeniably no 1 position when it moved back ?
Well, it did regain its ranking and admittedly, HCI is one of the top schools by any measure. For it to regain its preeminence, perhaps we can try a social experiment to move RI to Tuas and measure the impact?Sun_2010:
Then by the location logic, it should have regained its place when it moved back?
and by the same logic , if the new JC is at Mt.sinai campus, it will become the top JC? :scratchhead: -

Ahlo pirated...you have been in the seas for too long... MOE is talking about the interim site and so are the parents. The perm site is a foregone conclusion that nothing much can be discussed until the soil issue is resolved.

By association to location - any time Mt Sinai is top lah!
Many of the top JCs today had one time or another lived and stayed at Mt Sinai where they received enlightenment via the two tablets and wherever they went subsequently they have done well.
ITE Bishan ? Have you heard ITE stands for Its The End ??!! Why want that location ? No good lah. Only the saints can make good the place because they are the saints.
Lesser mortal must stick with established norms of property : location location location = mt sinai
By the same token people has been clamoring for conservation of 38 Oxley Road -

Whether a location is attractive or not, it is quite subjective because everyone has different needs. Personally, I like Mt Sinai but I do not reject Bishan ITE if it is nearer to me as a holding site. -
Please do not draw ITE in and use such uncalled for language on them. Smacks of elitism. very insensitive.

Mt Sinai is a superb location and probably is a nexus of positive energy which probably explains why RJC has done so well.
In reality, there are many factors that contribute to a JC's academic success, not least the school's leadership, the teachers, the school culture, support from the authorities and the location. Assuming that all the other factors remain constant, any change in any factor may have an adverse impact on the school's academic standing. For a brand new JC without a proven leadership, without a coterie of teachers and a strong culture, even the best location may not turn it into an academic success overnight.
What's worse, this episode, minor it may seem, call into question the government's commitment to build this new JC into a top JC. Compared to the long-term efforts and resources required to build up a new JC, sticking to an already committed interim and permanent sites would seem the least of the worries. And yet, already we are tripping before the new JC takes its first step. All that the affected parents are asking for is clarity and certainty on things that are seemingly within control. -
