MOE informed:
http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2012/11/release-of-2012-psle-results.php
\"IP students from CHS, CHIJ SNGS and SCGS will spend their first four years in their respective secondary schools, before they progress to a new government JC in 2017. For the initial batches, the new JC will operate at an interim campus to be located at the current ITE College Central (Bishan Campus). The interim campus will be fully furnished and equipped with the necessary resources for students to fully benefit from an enriched IP curriculum. More details of the permanent site will be released later.

Then the authorities need to honour their words. It is both written and verbally communicated.
Do the authorities have to honour their words and address your concerns if they have their reasons?
Look at those property owners who are promised 99 or 999 years of land leasing and but still have to relocate due to some unforeseen government's projects.
Yes a dialogue session is necessary in all the cases. -
Delay is not just once but twice.
-
Let’s not mould our new generation into 草莓一族。
It’s also unhealthy to reiterate about JCs’ ranking, encourage competitions among JCs, the new IP JC to surpass which and which top JCs and worrying about whether it could still attract top scholars into the JC.
Isn’t it more important to encourage our young generation to put in their best effort in everything they do, to be resilient like their parents, and contribute whole-heartedly to our nation in future and not to draw themselves boundaries of elitism and this myopic meritocracy in education? -

Agree it is not a matter of honouring their words if there are valid reasons to the problem. These are just angry words. Not listening to the property owners does not mean they should just continue not to listen...are we living in the imperialism world? The resolution can be open for discussion by first understanding the impact on the people affected, especially when there are 2 changes in the announcement. Allow the aggrieved people to make their case and the authorities to convince them.

And for affected parents, suggestion is not to pressure for the new building to be ready by promised date. If there is really something wrong with the soil, pushing for a quick construction is only putting the students' lives at risk if the building is built on unstable ground. JMHO. -

I am sure the authorities did listen to the affected property owners' grievances in those cases but were firm in their stance for the benefit of the majority in the nation.

Shouldn't the affected parents and pupils seek their respective principal for explanation first? We are talking about three school leaders but none know the exact situation nor 'fight' for their students? -
DennisB:
If the requests are reasonable the authorities will do something about it. Like the Fenvale Temple case, the residents submit petition meet MP and authorities like what parents in new JC are going to do. And finally the authorities did something about it. So changes can happen if reasonable.
Yes these people deserve their voices to be and views to be at heard in a dialogue. -

Aiyo, that's what we've been saying all this time, peeps!
Didn't know dhs was there too....that is far!!Sun_2010:
You left out NUSH and DHS ...

I think the biggest difference is that the new JC doesn't yet have a collective identity, so students from the 3 schools don't have a sense of solidarity and are not united - fraternally - in a common vision and mission. In contrast, DHS IP has a strong heritage and 德明人 are known to be brave/resilient (“勇”)and fiercely loyal (\"忠\") to their alma mater (\"一生德明情“). Their affected batches might have been well-primed and \"conditioned\" by their dedicated Principal and staff (and possibly alumni, board members and parents support group) prior to the relocation to Mt Sinai.6. Needs to convince MOE that new JC kids need more time to rest and prepare for A Levels, as compared to students from DHS, NUSH and RJC who also lived in various parts of Singapore but had accepted similar arrangements before.
On 31 July 2004, MOE announced that Dunman High School would offer a six year Integrated Programme (IP) or the Dunman High Programme (DHP) that leads directly to a GCE A-Level certification. Dunman High School is the first government secondary school to offer IP, the announcement signaled MOE’s strong confidence in the school to provide a top class education. The school’s 6th and 7th principals Mr Tan Thiam Hock陈添福 (1998-2004) and Mr Sng Chern Wei 孙振炜(2004-2009) respectively played an instrumental role in conceptualizing and implementing the 6-year Dunman High Programme. 2004 also produced the school’s fourth President Scholar – Mr He Ruijie.
In 2007 and 2008, Dunman High School underwent PRIME (Programme for Rebuilding and Improving Existing Schools) and was temporarily located at a holding school situated in the former Raffles Junior College campus at Mt. Sinai Road.
In January 2009, Dunman High School’s new premises have expanded with many state-of-the-arts facilities such as an 850-seater Performing Arts Centre and Life Science Laboratory. In 2009 Tan Baojia who belonged to the first batch of IP students was awarded the President’s Scholarship. Since 1976 the school has produced five President’s Scholars. All the five President’s Scholars achieved sterling academic results, possessed a keen interest in a variety of activities, knowledgeable, as well as demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities. Additionally, they were individuals with good character and personality. Dunman High has nurtured countless students into good citizens who have contributed much to society and the country. This has been and will continue to be the driving force for all staff and students to strive for excellence in all their endeavours.
http://www.dunmanhigh.moe.edu.sg/about-dhs/school-history/school-history-2000s/
