Obviously you are not an affected parent.25HMOM:
Perhaps the govt might think you have missed the big picture. Which is more significant? Setting up an MRT line that can serve 5+ mil people or a small school that can house a mere 1800 pupils?
Who knows, it may amaze the govt that a relatively simple matter such as a change in interim site and delay in building a new govt school can lead to so much unhappiness for those affected.
How much confidence will the govt have on these pupils whom they planned to groom into future leaders or pillars of SGP if they cannot even make some sacrifices.
Perhaps the govt has overlooked the fact that the interest of children, in this new generation Singaporean parents, are of utmost importance above all national matters
Just another controversial viewpoint.
Reminds me of the \"No studio flats for the elderly in my backyard\" incident where residents from Toh Yi estate objected to the building of studio flats for the elderly next to their HDB blocks. I thought The residents were being very selfish and I didn't understand their concerns. Now as an affected parent myself, I start to understand how the Toh Yi residents felt. It is always easy to talk about the abstract but when one's direct interest is trampled on, I dare say the perspectives will change very fast.
Thee should not be any conflict between building a MRT line and a new JC. Likewise, there is no conflict between a credible, effective and efficient government that manages the national interests as well as takes care of the ground concerns. Why position a possible conflict when there is none? The government can (and should) continue to build their MRT as most of the parents are not asking anything in return. They only asked for a dialogue with the powers to be to seek clarity and re-assurances.
This episode is a small matter and could have been nipped in the bud early had there been better coordination between the different government agencies, more transparent information sharing and pro-active communications with the parents and students.
As parents, we always hope that our children will lead better lives than us. And it is this pursuit of a better life that makes us demanding and perhaps, also ensures that Singapore does not stagnate. -
It is not productive for the unaffected to speculate when they do not have the full information. That’s how the term San gu Liu po came about.

and who is to say unaffected parents/students cannot and/or does not have full information ?
only parents / students of the 3 schools are allowed to know the info? -

Even before they enter army they might fight for downgrade to avoid NS so they don't have to complain jungle training, cry during PT, cannot sleep in tent etc..
However, I need to say that not all parents are like this. I believe there are still many out there who understand and will not groom their children to be strawberries.
It is just a small issue but some chose to make such a big deal out of it. Maybe next time their army camp shift further into the jungle, they also wanna complain. If have training exercise, complain don't let their boys sleep and thus they cannot fight a war properly. :siam:
Some of them actually are groomed by parents to be so beautiful you thought they look like Korean stars. Maybe don't count on these strawberries too much to fight alongside you when you need them.

Aiyo, chill la...you aren't an immediate affected parent yet mah, 李姑娘?
:rotflmao: I see myself as a stakeholder as my eldest will be taking her PSLE in 2 years time and as parents, by then, we have to decide on her behalf if we should go ahead and put SCGS IP as her first choice. The completion is end-2019 and DD1 JC1 will start Jan-2020.
Your DD still have a choice to opt for another IP JC in 2-3 yrs later mah...

No, just that it takes time and effort to find out more about the situation and unless you are affected or have a keen interest in the matter, you are not likely to invest the time and energy required to have all the facts.

If this is the case and the forum has already uncovered and disseminated quite a lot of relevant facts regarding the situation, I don't see why some are chasing 'unaffected' parents away.. Unless the truth contravenes some peoples' true agenda... :scared:

Seriously, my DDs enjoy their time in school and love their school a lot and frankly, the school does provide a supportive and conducive environment for them to learn and grow. Which is why I am very keen on the new IP JC and it pains me to see it off to a rocky start. -
I have gotten this piece of information from someone a while ago.
MOE has assured the affected pupils and parents that it will engage and deploy the most senior & experienced teachers and HOD to this new JC and also to plan the curriculum ahead to ensure its success (in competing with other top JCs?), when they receive negative feedback during the early stage of announcement of the mt sinai interim site.
It doesn’t sound fair to other existing JCs. Affected parents, you cannot always have the cake & eat it. Give and take please. -

someone said they welcome all views for discussion? If it's closed, might as well start a PM group to chat. Besides, the authorities won't see both sides of the argument mah...
from this open discussion, at least we know 1 affected parent is not going to sign the petition and some living near Ghim Moh who are very happy abt the relocation.
