I really feel for your niece. It is already hard being a teenager and to have to deal with bullying is really stressful. I would like to tell you my personal experience with a bully, and hopefully it would help your niece a bit.

When I was in pri sch, I was bullied by a model student too. She bossed me around and threatened me by saying she would make my life difficult by reporting me to her brother, whom was the head prefect at the school then. I was really scared and stressed at that time and I did whatever she ordered me to. Somehow that was not enough for her, she got the class to ostracized me. I just couldn’t stand it anymore, so I told my elder brother about it and asked him to speak with the girl’s elder brother, and he did. Next day, the girl apologized to me and pleaded with me not to say more to her brother. After that day, I had no trouble with her anymore.

I realized as a victim, you build up your bully to be someone invincible and so powerful that you can’t do anything about except to endure and accept you are weaker. But think about it, your school bully is about the same age as you, and is likely to have the same weakness as you. You have to realize he/she is much smaller than you picture in your mind and is confine to same restrictions as you are. The thing I felt that it had worked for me against the bully , was that I had told someone whom can help me about it. Secondly, most bullies are afraid of trouble themselves, because like you they are teenagers too, they too are afraid of the same authority figures as you are. They are also bound by the same social pressure as you are.So don’t run yourself exhausted fighting an oversize shadow of a tiny person. You are a lot stronger than you think, so don’t give up.

I heard of another school bullies happening in the EAST

        PASIR RIS SECONDARY SCHOOL
in fact the whole class lack of empathy , even the class form teacher admits it

It is just a neighbourhood school yet the students are SNOBBISH, ARROGANT and NARCISSTIC, always looking down at low income fellow classmates, always sneering at fellow classmates for not using IPHONE and BABY G watch!

and these so called academically inclined students are always spewing Foul Language, using the "Fxxk" word most of the times

          Another school bully.

Sec school bully slaps helpless classmates on their heads while others laugh at them.

SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Education (MOE) is investigating an alleged case of bullying after a video showing a secondary school student slapping his classmates on the head multiple times was found to be circulating on Facebook, reported citizen journalism site Stomp and The Straits Times.

The video, reported to be taken in a classroom at Shuqun Secondary School in Jurong East, was posted on All Singapore Stuff's Facebook page on Monday morning (Sept 21).

In the 52-second clip, a male student is shown hitting a seated classmate on his head while other classmates laugh in the background. The student then proceeds to slap the boy on his cheek, before using a rolled-up book to hit him and another classmate on their heads.

As of 2pm on Monday, the video has garnered more than 90,000 views.

According to The Straits Times, the MOE and the school are investigating the matter.

Thank goodness there is a video otherwise any complaint would definitely be dismissed as just kids being playful and parents who complain are kiasu and over protective.

As my kids grow older, my tolerance level is getting lower. Kids are older and should know what is unacceptable behaviour. P5 onwards, being playful or just fooling around is a poor excuse for bullying others (imo).

I worry more for the student who took the video of the incident.

for the bully, he could have been just counselled…but the student who took the video could face punishment for 1) using the mobile phone during class 2) taking the video which lead to the school being known.

Hopefully the school authorities will take into account the context. After all, whistle-blowing in the workplace is condoned if it’s to prevent illegal activity or harm. The same considerations should come into play here. But he should still be advised that he should have reported it to the school authorities rather than put it on social media (unless he had tried and no-one took action).

Best part is there is an adjunct teacher in the class. Wonder what is that teacher doing? 🤷

an adjunct teacher is still a teacher.
what was that teacher doing then? how come he/she allowed the bully to abuse his classmate?

the bully's actions should not be pardoned...will get flamed again for saying this, but if there is a teacher in the classroom and the bully still did what he did. where is the respect for authority?
