        TheSolver:
In reply to pashio636, it would be preferable if you put British spelling, but if you put American spelling and your entire paper is also written in America spelling, then it should be fine (but because teachers mark by section and not by script, it may cause some complications if you write in American spelling).

For the leakage of the tap question, shouldn't it be 'The pipe is leaking(,) resulting in a wastage of water.'

During the PSLE marking exercise, both American spelling and British spelling are accepted. In fact, all standard varieties are accepted . This is stated very clearly in the PSLE information booklets / EL Syllabus given to all English HODs and schools. I was a marker and a supervisor in the marking of PSLE English for 18 years. It's pure nonsense that there must be consistency in the usage of one variety over the other (s). If it is true that only British English is allowed, why then do teachers and students use American English vocab such as \"elevator\" & \"vacation\"?

There are many standard varieties . Singapore Standard English is one such variety. If the kids were learning the British variety, they would be speaking like the Queen! If teachers were teaching the British variety, they would be teaching the RP (Received Pronunciation) / the Queen's English instead.

          2.7 or 2.75?

DS put 2.7 as they just say measure the length and not divide.

Hope our p6 students have done their best for the English and Math papers.

No matter what the outcome is, everyone should take pride that you have crossed 2 hurdles and give yourselves a pat on your backs.

Now that half the battle is gone, I’m sure most are already feeling the weight on their shoulders easing. This weekend is a good time to take a little respite from the exam stress and then recharge again to fight on for the last 2-3 papers.

Word of advice - Do not look back on what’s done and over. Discussing about right and wrong answers given serves no purpose at THIS point of time. It’s simply saps your energy, waste precious time, shakes your confidence and disrupts your mental focus on what’s left to be accomplished.

            聪明的人在正确的时间做正确的事。

All the best to our p6 kiddos next week.

                    English paper2 synthesis qn 70

\" Don't tell me where you have hidden my present, \" Ruby told her brother.

Ruby told her brother that he was not ___________

Ruby told her brother that he was not allowed to tell him where he had hidden his present.

                    Is this accepted??

No, it's unacceptable. If you add 'allowed ' , you are actually changing the meaning of the sentence as the original sentence has no 'allowed '.

I don't think that I'm changing the meaning of the sentence. Can someone explain to me? Another query, what about the word' supposed'? :?:

Popick may have introduced a new word, \"allowed\".
However, Popick did NOT alter the original meaning of the sentence.
The original meaning, is still left intact.

Popsicle is still correct, in his answer.
