can anyone enlighten me what marks will enable your child to get to Express, above 200? I actually have not much ideas and I think it is about time I start to check. Someone told me different schools are different for Express cut off marks and I was like :? I thought is should be standard.

Need to start my son's resting engine soon but then it seem a little \"cruel\" 🤷

Am I the only one already fantasizing about post-PSLE holiday next year while preparing for this year's holiday? Was discussing with DH how to fit in holiday dates next year...

The person is right, different schools have different express cut off and this fluctuates slightly every year. So some parents may choose to have their kids enter normal stream in a school that has a higher cut-off, but a culture that is more agreeable to them.

Clear cut express is 200 points. 188-199, the child can choose Ex/normal.

But note that as schools have limited vacancies, those children with higher points and choose the school as their first choice will get priority.

i chanced upon this link and thought it might be useful.

for those who are considering dropping HCL, my thoughts are; is the child spending extra time to study for HCL? If not, then I don't see why child should not continue? For my child, I treat it like extra revision for CL when she does HCL classes we don't do anything extra for that subject. I don't see any additional stress from HCL.

Agree. If not stressed over it, just treat as enrichment class. I dun pressurize child to score. Pass can already. Only push for Normal Chinese.

To get 200 T-score, kid should score around 286/400 (add up all marks for 4 core subjects).

Some say, to get estimation of T-score, you multiply total raw marks by 0.70 to 0.75; the higher standard schools use 0.75 (coz paper harder) whereas neighbourhood schools maybe multiply total marks by 0.7.

                Example:
                286 total *0.7 = 200 T-score
That means each subject average around 71%. 4Bs minimum. Of coz some subjects A* can make up for lower scores in other subjects... so you do your own sums.

Be informed that MOE uses a much more complicated way (comparing mean and deviations) to get the T-score so this is just pure estimation.

Gurus, pls correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

To get 250 T-score : roughly, each of the 4 subjects must score how much approx ?

If each subject is 85, can reach 250 ?
                  lets work out …

                  take 0.7 * Total of 4 subjects
                  0.7 * 85 * 4 = 238

only reach 238, still very far away from … 250

I will be happy if my DS1 can get 238! then he can go to his affiliated sec school!

if let say, he can get 85 for the rest of the 3 subjects but failed Chinese, possible to get 238? that is the magic number I am looking at, unless the school has increased the cut off.

Nope..u r not alone...I am also thinking how to fit in holidays date..keeping eyes open on school candelar next year šŸ˜‚ I am always looking forward for family holidays šŸ˜‚

Gosh..wish that there is non PSLE existence so we wont be that stress over IP/DSA/Tscore blah blah blah  My kids always envy their friends in australia (the family migrated and now are australians) have no exam till they are in college (I think 16 years onwards) else childhood life is pretty free and easy. :boogie:

Well, since we live in Singapore, we will have to adapt to Singapore system...so we learn to be a group of Kiasu šŸ˜„

To get T-Score of 200, means your child must be the average of the whole school cohort taking the exam.

                        Example 1 :-

                        Mean (Eng 60, Chi 60, Sci 60, Math 60)

                        Child A (Eng 60, Chi 60, Sci 60, Math 60) - PSLE score = 200
                        Child B (Eng 70, Chi 70, Sci 70, Math 70) - PSLE score > 200 (210 or 220 maybe)
                        Child C (Eng 50, Chi 50, Sci 50, Math 50) - PSLE score < 200 (180 or 190 maybe)

                        Example 2 :-

                        Mean (Eng 50, Chi 50, Sci 50, Math 50)

                        Child A (Eng 60, Chi 60, Sci 60, Math 60) - PSLE score > 200 (210 or 220 maybe)
                        Child B (Eng 70, Chi 70, Sci 70, Math 70) - PSLE score > 200 (230 or 240 maybe)
                        Child C (Eng 50, Chi 50, Sci 50, Math 50) - PSLE score = 200
