It's composition written by students, whose reputation to protect? :scratchhead:

Does RGPS allow the students to bring back text books, activity books? Some single session school does not allow. They provide lockers for the students, in order to reduce the weight of the backpacks. It is good. But it's more difficult for the parents to track the kid's progress.
There's only textbook for math and Chinese. These come back everyday. But workbooks will be kept in school and the teacher will return portion by portion of what is done in class. The Chinese and math workbooks can be torn into pages to be worksheets and then after completion we will file them at home. English follows the stellar system so no textbooks. They also do worksheets in class and bring back when completed.

Protect the reputation of the school and teachers of course.

They won't want another parent to take a photo of how the teacher marked the child's work and put it on STOMP.

Sorry to jump in. I just want to share that my children’s school, Pei Chun, do not return the composition nor 作文 too. At the request of parents, we get to see during the mid year PMT. Although my DS writing style is almost the same all the while, the score is so different in SA1 vs SA2. Maybe more schools are not returning the composition anymore, to avoid any dispute / unwanted attention.

Anyone has any idea when can we hear from the school bus provider?

School bus driver will only call you, during the last few days of December 2015 after Christmas is over, just before 4 Jan 2016 new academic Year about to start.

Driver only contact parents, after they have planned out in detail the entire route to travel, from the first student what time to pick up to board school bus, until the last pupil what time to pick up.

              Thanks for the info.

I have one question regarding the English class. Is there a vocabulary list for primary student, breakdown into different levels? I found many workbooks in Popular stated as P1 or P1/P2 vocabulary. But the words in different books are very different. Does MOE provide any guide line? Thank you!

Hi, I guess the school wants to protect the reputation. Remember MGS there is a parent who took a photo of her child's written work marked by teacher.
                    I see.

maybe School worry that after let parents see compo exam script, RGPS may turn out to be another MGS, create a kick-up fuss storm via \"STOMP\", if parents start to put up their daughter's compo script on internet, question why Tr mark essay this way ?
Then, reputation of Rgps English Tr at stake.

However, School should still let parents view their daughter's English compo script during \"Parents meet Tr\" session, then take the script back on the spot immediately after parents view, strictly stating no imaging nor handphone snapshot allowed.
(if no snapshot allowed, no way to upload to internet)
Parents just want to see, which are the areas of weakness identified : is it in the flow of storyline or plot written, or is it the wrong usage of grammar, tenses, etc ?

(see, but no imaging snapshot allowed)

I think it will be quite naive of the school to think that all parents will absolutely adhere to the \"no imaging or snapshot allowed\" rule (if at all). There is always this remote possibility that an image will find its way online somehow, and it would be best to avoid this right at the beginning.

For English Compo, DD teacher did not show it to me. Oh well, that's ok. I know how DD usually writes her compo and I know where her weaknesses are. One thing though, her EL teacher did mention that this year's P2 script was pretty tough and for kids that do not have certain exposure to certain activities, they may not be able to understand the pictures used in the Compo (I was told it was about ice skating). According to her EL teacher, it has always been the school's policy to not return compo scripts for all levels.

For 作文, thankfully her teacher allowed me to view it. While it was not her CL teacher that marked the script (there are 2 markers - SOP to have 2 markers), the teacher was able to briefly explain (based on her script) where DD could improve on.

One teacher once shared with me, reason for not returning the exam compo to the students/parents is to avoid parents arguing and ultimately demanding for more marks, even just 1 mark. I have heard about parents arguing with teachers over marks allocation, so is best that all compo not returned. As long as the teacher is able to advise which area to improve, is good enough, afterall, with the compo practices the students did, parents should know the strengths and weaknesses of their child’s writings.
