2015 PSLE Discussion and Strategies

Any insight to share with regards to 2015 PSLE Science result? Any parents with major surprises?
I am thinking of appealing to review Science result. Thanks. -
In situations where there are two or more students with the same rounded aggregate score vying for the last place in a school, they will be posted based on their citizenship status (i.e. Singapore Citizens, then Singapore Permanent Residents, then International Students). If there is still a tie, say between two Singapore citizens, the one with the higher unrounded aggregate score will be posted into the school first. If there is still a tie between two citizens with the same unrounded aggregate score, then posting into the school will be determined by a computerised ballot where each student is given an equal opportunity.
My DD scored 259+2, is there any chance for HCI and DHS? Looks like the overall Tscore is higher this year, hard to estimate the COP..
Dont worry about whether there is any chance. 259+2 is a very good score. Alllocation is by merit. Just ę¢ę¢ę¾ for 1st 2 choices. Even if you miss by say 1-3 points, you can try appealing and chances of success are higher if the school is placed as 1st choice. You just need to ensure remaining 4 choices are of schools with a reasonable range of historical COPs lower than her T-score.
p.s. If DD, she cant go to HCI. Are you referring to NYGH?
 lame joke ...

Oh, that means to say the pupil who has 250.4 will have higher priority even though it is 3rd choice, compared to the pupil who has 250.3 but applying the same school as 1st choice then?
Yes, assuming their citizenship status is the same
There is the decimal points. If 2 students get 250 and apply for the same school for example, MOE will go into the decimals. If one gets 250.3 and the other 250.4, then the 250.4 will get the nod. MOE does not publish the decimal points though.kwcllf:

Is this really true?
Example:
If there are 2 pupils choosing the same school.
One put it as first choice.
Another put it as 3rd choice and did not get the first 2 choices.
If they have the same score, will they have the same chance to get the school or ...? -

Thanks for the confirmation. This means that the Top 3% is 262. 4 poiNTS higher than last year. This means, the cut off for RI this year can be 260678Yess:
Any mainstreamer scored 260 being offered EESIS?
Hi 678Yess, the EESIS is given to those mainstreamers who scored 262 points & above. Written on the greem form. -

No harm putting RI though. If you don't get RI, you will still be ahead of another boy who put HCI as 1st choice.
Thanks a lot for the contributuon! Sorry for the typo error, it is DS. We are just thinking to try HCI as 1st choice then. Basically give up RI, since no chance. If lucky enough, HCI, or DHS, if both missed, then NJC, may have chance? -

Based on my past dialogues with primary and secondary school teachers on the topic of appealing to review national exam results, it is sad to say that the unanimous answer given by all of them : No point -- you pay the money and spend the time eagerly waiting for their reply, only to hear from them that they have reviewed the paper and found that the marks were awarded correctly.Any insight to share with regards to 2015 PSLE Science result? Then again, there could be cases of successful appeals that I am/we are not aware of.
Go ahead and try ... -

May I ask how to appeal?
It makes a difference if you put the school as 1st or 2nd or 3rd choice. When you appeal, I know some schools will ask to state whether you have put them as your 1st, 2nd or 3rd choices.
Although they won't explicitly tell you it makes any difference, I think it does. So choose carefully.
(my DS got 259+2 also; we are thinking of putting RI 1st choice.
If miss by 1 to 2 points, what else do the school look at?) -

Seems like the school will look at your DS's CCA, other achievements and if he has leadership qualities ... -
