It is important not to volunteer as a GRL for the wrong reasons. Speak volumes of the values and character of a person if the sole purpose is to get a 2B priority instead of serving the community. Does the new PA ruling (minimum 2 years of service) take effect for the 2015 registration for P1 (2016)? Thanks.

      In principle... correct.
      In practice... :rotflmao:
Take away the 2B priority and the various business opportunities/network, I'll be surprised how many volunteers would be left. There are many altruistic people in the world, but definitely not enough to fill up the number of places that PA required/created.

When the people in an organisation deviates from the core purpose and are chasing after personal gains instead, there is only one direction for the organisation and that is downhill. Not a surprise that the recent AGO report cited PA for multiple lapses. Many senior GRLs have also spoken up on how disruptive these "opportunistic Phase 2B" GRLs could be as they come and go. The system is unable to sustain itself in the long term. Short term goals are attained but in the long term, the organisation suffers.

I think the PA has realised that the system has been "abused" over the years and i think the new ruling would be effective in ensuring the PA gets the right people. I concur with Orb that the spirit of being a GRL must first and foremost be to serve the community. The rest of the perks that comes with it are bonuses.

These \"opportunistic Phase 2B\" GRLs are just the tip of the ice berg.
Opportunistic phase 2B folks takes their cue from people like \"tonic\". Until senior GRLs get PA to remove all perks and withdraw their own participation in the political sphere, PA will never sort themselves out. Short term bandages won't solve the long term cancer.

            Agree with floppy.

It's one thing to be altruistic. It's another to be self-righteous. If PA is so beat up about \"opportunistic\" newcomers, they should do away with the 2B priority. They shouldn't view newcomers with suspect. There is a very practical reason they retain the 2B priority...

So… I understand the part about needing to serve as GRL for two years before getting any chance at Phase 2B, but can anyone share what does GRLs need to do? Thanks.

For those who just want to know which constituency a particular school falls into. Can try this Google Map tool here:

                  https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... C3FB2j12gk

Use \"Search\", key in Postal Code (6 digits), the school will be shown in map. Click on map and the name of constituency and MP's name will be displayed. Hope this helps!

                    Hello all,

Any idea possible to appeal to the grc ? I am indeed a road way from the school of my choice , the school is in a different constituency . Can I volunteer to my grc and then ask mp wrote letter to the other constituent / school ?

                    Appreciate all your advice

If many people from different constituency start asking their MP To write letter to help parents appeal to change to another constituency where popular schools reside :
Imagine the Chaos, confusion, disorder, questioning of how valid is Phase 2B ?
