One more thing to check, table in the balloting history, shows Phase 2C as yellow, APP 115%, TUR 100%
under Maris. Does yellow legend means balloting required for SC 1-2km, and those within 1km gets admitted directly?

Yellow indicates balloting for SC within 1-2km. But this may change as I understand that Bartley Residences and Bartley Ridge can use their addresses for registration. Do monitor and make an informed decision based on calculated risk and probability. Balloting is not for the faint hearted.

Hi Sembgal. True indeed. Big fish in a small pond or small fish in a big pond. Have been debating this issue with my hubby since my girl was born. In the end, we decide to just try our luck. Never try never know!

My niece managed to get in via the transfer route but only at P4. Praying hard!

My friend asked me to transfer my child to St Nic. Still thinking as I want to see who are the teachers teaching my dd next year in her current school. Praying for the excellent teachers that I have in mind. Those teachers usually follow for 2 years. Of course there are top schools too but distance very far. If go to top school, all are small fish in the pond. Being a big fish in the pond is also not bad now.

While you belong to one group of parents, still figuring whether to remain as big fish in a small pond vs to remain as small fish in a big pond, another group of parents are brilliantly strategizing ahead, how to transfer or position their daughter favorably, to gain transfer into CHIJ St Niçholas primary, a very popular school that faced intense balloting under Phase 2A1, in recent years.

Tense P1 balloting for alumni members (Phase 2A1), at CHIJ St Nicholas primary (full school)

there are quite a number of China parents, whose daughter are PR.
Of late, what they plan or strategise, is temporarily just enrol their daughter into a Local school, first.
This year, Marymount under Phase 2C have so many remaining vacant seats, even under Phase 2C Supplementary Phase & Phase 3 (foreigners), still have a lot left, for PR/SC.

So, what these China parents' strategy :
is to enrol their PR daughter, into Marymount Convent first.
Marymount, being a Convent school : English standard is pretty good / high.
This is their strategy : first, find a local school easy to get in, but that can train their children strong in English, for initial first few years.
Since Marymount is easy to enter (with so many vacancies left in Phase 2C / 2CS / Phase 3), enter Marymount first, as a stepping stone.

Then, at the end of P2 :
Their daughter apply for Transfer, into CHIJ St Nicholas primary.
If their P1/P2 results are good, conduct good, St Nick being a SAP school, also being a Convent school (similar to Marymount, also Catholic convent school, on common ground) will be happy to accept them in via Transfer, since being China students, Chinese is a breeze for them.

Besides Marymount, others also Transfer into St Nick, via SAP schools (another route), or via Any CHIJ primary school, as they're within the same CHIJ family

what I wish to highlight is :-
Not only Singaporean parents out here wish to Transfer their daughter into St Nick, but China parents also competing, seeking Transfer doing the same thing

Seriously I hope it will help esp mine is a girl! But surprising my surrounding is full of tiger babies. I never really go and check the birth rates for 2010. Is it really lower?

It will help if you are going for the less popular schools. For those popular schools, it will hardly matter.

Your new property is being built so you can use your Sales Agreement with the developer to apply for schools in Punggol (if using distance priority). You must move into the new property once TOP or before the kid ends P2. (For completed properties, must physically move in and change NRIC address to use the distance priority.)

Since you are moving to Punggol soon, maybe just apply Punggol schools and forget Pasir Ris? Quite troublesome to transfer and have your kid make new friends again. Besides Mee Toh, you can also consider CHIJ OLN if you don't mind the mission school environment.

No point going to Pasir Ris primary, since confirmed shift house to Punggol soon.

If Catholic, can enrol under CHIJ Our Lady of Nativity, under Phase 2B. Do well in P1/P2, then seek transfer to CHIJ Toa Payoh or St Nicholas, for affiliation to Secondary, have peace of mind.

Within the Catholic family of convent schools, it is easier to seek Transfer.[/quote]Sorry don't really understand.

for ex student

Phase 2B for CHIJ primary schools :
only for Catholic / Parent Volunteer / grassroot activity leader

If u are none of the above, that means u fall under Phase 2C (open to public)
