Hi Autolycus
There's a paper about 2 years old that you can download from http://nk11r10-homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/FileSharing.woa/wa/2007TSLNIBDPFInal.pdf.pdf-zip.zip?a=downloadFile&user=brythain&path=/Public/2007TSLNIBDPFInal.pdf. It's PDF, about 300+ Kb when downloaded. Enjoy.
My DD is in P6 this year and we are comparing the IB and the A level track. I'd be most helpful if you could share this pdf.
TIA. -

I also give talks about this, but I'm not going to advertise when or where in this discussion thread. -

Hi appreciate some info and advice. My son is in y2 and managed pretty decent results for midyr ie above 75%.
How wld Hast, cca achievements, yr 1 results weigh for y3 ip consideration?
What kind of gap wld there be between a new and other existing ip students who is used to accelerated learning in y3? Dont want him to feel demoralised at bottom of class.
How do xpress students entering ip y3 fair in perform?
If he is not as strong in eng and literature, wld it advisable to remain in xpress?
How many ip places will be offered to acsi y2?
Tssss! -
really informative. Thanks. Keep posting

Should be around 80+% to be comfortable in the IP. Year 1 results have no weighting, and CCA achievements will have little weighting (unless relevant to the IB in Year 5). There will be some gap, but demoralisation is a function of the character of the student and his family/peer support interactions.Hi appreciate some info and advice. Express-stream students entering the IP fare well, but that's because the bar is set high enough in the first place. If he isn't strong in Eng/Lit, it is advisable for him to develop those skills because they are essential for further development in any future career.
IP places are easy to estimate (you can't predict the exact number in advance). Count how many IP classes there are in the existing Y3. Multiply by 32. This gives you a rough limit on how many students will be in next year's IP. Since this includes Year 2 IP students moving up, the remaining places are far fewer and would also include a few imported scholars and transfers from other schools (quite rare).
Hope this helps! -
Ts much for the info and advice!
