CCA in polytechnics are probably as varied, if not more, as JC offering. They are after all administered as tertiary institutions (similar to the universities) with a lot more autonomy and \"power\" vested in the students. -

i was like, whew! no more cca stuff after secondary school. then cousin told me still have such a thing in poly...the points are to enter local U.janet88:

Not compulsory to join a CCA in polys. It's still the GPAs (or grade point average) that's more important for uni admissions. But joining a CCA does give a more balanced and holistic edu life. For some students, it gives them a sense of belonging doing something they enjoy with like-minded friends.

DadOfGirl:
Thank you for reply.. Marked dates already on calendar.. :boogie:
Visited Both Lasalle & NAFA open house on 15 to 17 weekend... Deadline for applying is this weekend... but still my DD undecided......
DadofGirlschweppes:
What are the disciplines NAFA offers?
My DD has interest to do degree in Drama/Stage management/directing plays etc...
She had ELDDS for sec school & JC & lot of leadships roles ...
Off late, she is leaning towards full time degree related to Drama society.
Not sure if your girl is still keen on theatre or arts management. Can check out the websites of these institutions:
NUS Theatre Studies - open house should be in March 2016
Lasalle College of the Arts - open house on 15 and 16 Jan 2016
NAFA - no news of open house but likely to be same time as Lasalle's
Took up 7$ hr cafe job and seems like no plan to do any proper degree even if A level result good...Sigh.. -

Poly GPAs are the most impt. But if you are applyg for hot fac like Med/Dentistry/Law, CCAs are a very real advantage.floppy:

We hv a girl in church who got into NUS Med. She has a diploma in nutrition. She initiated a very good project on her own. -
thank you for the confirmation.
was thinking, life in poly (tertiary) is already so hectic…why is there is a need for CCA? -

I find republic poly students really hip and happening. Was there a few times. And I noticed they are cool dressers. Their canteen is a really nice environment for the young to socialise and network.thank you for the confirmation.
