My DD2 skipped a grade because of age. Last year, she was underaged to take RAD grade 1 so this year, after assessed by teacher, she can take grade 2. Totally agree with parents here that the exam coaching is really taking up too much time. Fortunately, the exam falls on school holiday week.

After this round, then the next round will begin again come Oct 2016. Is it necessary to go yearly exams? I may skip some if possible.

It really depends on individuals and the teachers... several ballet schools allow that as long as the students still diligently practices every week (i.e. minus the coaching).

My Dd's exam in scheduled on April 20 at 8.30am. Prior to her exams, her teacher had arranged for 4 special lessons where the children will dance along a pianist on the piano. Looking forward to it.

Exams at 830am? Means your DD has to report for the hairdo, etc at 7-730am... :snooze:

Sigh, but that also mean that we can get back to work or school by 10.30am.

Mummies, does your girl’s ballet teacher helps them to bun up the hair for the exam? Previously, the ballet teacher helps but now, the new teacher does not. She told us all the girls need to report at 8.30am in full attire and hair do. Make sure absolutely no traces of baby hair! I have difficulty trying to bun it neatly to the exam standard! Already put so much gel but still can see baby hair!

Good thing my DD ballet teacher will get the senior girls to help to tie the bun to \"exam standard\". I think there is stronger gel out there in the market. Try asking hair saloon for recommendations.

Ballet teacher helped to bun up hair and she got a few of her ballet teachers-friends to come help her out to bun up the other girls' hair too.

Yes, the ballet rehearsal and extra practice are taking too much time away from her revision. Not surprised that her CA1 didn't do as well as she would like to but that's life.
Thankfully, CA1 is about 10% of overall score so there is not much loss if doesn't do well for CA1.

                    Yes, agree
The twice a week ballet training is taking up far too much of our children time, leaving very little time for them to revise Term 1 work, as the kids are very tired, after twice a week tiring practice.

My friends daughters' CA1 in their primary schools also 10%, same as yours.
Though 10 % may seem little, but the amount of time & effort put in by their kids to prepare for CA1, is a lot.

Ballet training will get more intensive towards exam grading period. Therefore, to commit to ballet, it must be the child's interest to learn. Otherwise, no point to continue to learn if the child has lost interest.

Hi, I wish to find out more about ballet teacher Ms. Chua.

One of my girl’s classmate mum strongly recommend this ballet teacher and phtthp also mentioned about her before. I am in the midst of searching for a new ballet school for my daughter as the current one keeps changing teacher. I am considering Ms. Chua and if you do have experience with this teacher, I hope you can drop me a PM. Thank you.

                        is there any difference between

Ballet (Majors) Intermediate vs. Ballet (Majors) Intermediate Foundation ?

are Ballet (Majors) Advanced 1 and Ballet (Majors) Advanced Foundation, the same ?
