All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Hi,


We’ve been staying with my MIL at Hougang (1-2km from CHIJ) since marriage but our address on IC is Punggol (our weekend house within 1km from Punggol Green Pri). My MIL has been the main caregiver for my girl since she was born but 2yrs ago she had a stroke. Now she relies on helper to move around. We hope to continue staying with her at her house as we do not prefer sending her to a student care.

1) Do you think chances are high to get in CHIJ OLN if I do PV?

2) Will MOE accept our SD despite my MIL’s physical disability?

3) Should we move back to Punggol to stay on our own and leave my girl at student care in Punggol Green Pri?

I don't think there is such a rule, but you would be wasting your time for a school that you would not register for. Better weigh your chances carefully before doing PV.

When is the earliest can I try to start applying for schools to do PV? Any tips? Ideally I want to look for a girls school near town or along bukit timah. Not the overly famous schools such as NYPS & MGS though…cause its just gonna be too tough to get a slot.

I sent an email to the school in January the year when my son turned 4. However that was many years ago. Don't know if there are any changes now,
