Juz wondering if anyone can advise if it will be cheaper to order from spree instead of self ordering from dangdang; in terms of shipping cost from dangdang compared to handling cost from the spree. :roll:

this time round it took a long time before i rec the confirmation msg and see the status change on the website. keep emailing them but the thing is each time difft \"people\" replied (difft dept cos email is difft) and ask to resend the card details. then it took 5 weeks to reach after the status on the web says \"货物已发送\" . And it comes by snail mail delivery via post office (make sure someone is at home, else need to collect from the post office).

the books comes in normal 'snail' mail. our local postal office service, not courier companies.

Yes I can confirm it is Singpost. I received a call yesterday from Singpost before they deliver to me.

I just helped a friend to order 74 books + a 5 DVDs box set for SGD 156 including shipping charge, average about $2 each, including a few hardcover books.

If you order from a spree, it may or may not be cheaper, depending on the weight of your books. However, do note the risk of sending money to someone you don't know, it is very easy for her to disappear. This has happened in the Singaporemotherhood forum for more than a few times.

I do not advise anyone to join a spree, unless you know where the organizer lives.

It is best to order through dangdang using DBS Amex card. You can order any time you like, and you know exactly how much shipping charge you are paying. Once I ordered a set of 7 books from a spree organizer, I was shocked at the final shipping charges, I could have bought the same books in local bookshops at a slightly cheaper price.

Totally agree with Tamarind.

A spree organiser for dangdang at SMH forum disappeared recently after taking money and claiming order lost. Only when the mommies threatened to make police report then she appeared again. I am not sure if all refunds are made though.

So if you can, order online yourself. If you join spree I think most of them go by shipping weight instead of per book, so you may really end up paying more.

Yes those who join that spree were unfortunate. The organizer said it was the problem of the freight forwarder. It could be true and she could be refunding the mommies using her own money. I felt sorry for everyone. Organizing such a spree, with so many people joining, is complicated and anything can go wrong.

Some mommies think that the moderators and administrator of the forum can help. But that forum is not monitored and controlled as well as this kiasu forum. The SMH administrators cannot help because they don’t know the true identity of the spree organizers, and most of the time, they don’t respond to queries. Unlike our Chief Kiasu who seems to be always around.

I think the organiser for that spree is not being honest because she seemed to be avoiding them after collecting the money. Full of excuses too, so lost credibility. So 'suay' if meet this type of organiser.

Agree too that those moderators never seem to be around.
