[Tampines] Primary Schools

Mini-Bug:
We are PR within 1km of many schools, but the most convenient for us, is ChongZheng and Gongshang...which unfortunately happen to be rather popular neighbourhood schools. Ballot history stated there has been balloting for SC within 1km for Phase 2C. Does that mean we stand no chance at all?
Yes. -
Anyone has kids in st hildas pri? Can share if it is very stressful for them? As it is a good school I’m just afraid it gets overwhelming for my boy who has an anxiety issue. And any after school care?

Hi,
We are looking to get my boy into a school for 2017 in Phase 3.
The choices are: East View, Yumin or Angsana.
Is there any parents on here with kids who registered in above three schools in 2015 under Phase 3.
We would like to know any chance to get into!
Thanks in advance. -
Hi All

I’ll be registering my kid this year for Poi Ching, any parents will be too? Understand the school focuses quite a fair bit on Chinese, how can I prepare my kid for this? Are there any recommendation for Chinese enrichment classes? -

reckon will not have a problem entering any of these 3 schools at phase 3. I know East View and Angsana still had vacancies all the way till the end of the exercise.Hi,

Remember, every school is a good school...but not all schools are the same
the school work is quite advanced, i feel. At P2 they were already writing compositions and when I saw the P3 Science paper I was sweating buckets haha. They do give a lot of practice and the learning is scaffolded nicely. I do feel the environment and high standards keeps my dd stimulated. She doesn't go for tuition other than for Malay (because we all don't speak it at home zz). I just make sure that homework is done, checked, she keeps up with her readings. Support in the school is good. Big schools can give resources that small schools cannot. It was a bit sian at P1-2, the school prints out the level and class average marks...and you see that there are students scoring full marks for each subject. Lol...but I know where my dd is.
I do believe there is a range of abilities amongst the student cohort. the school does achieve above nationals for PSLE, which is an encouraging sign. I think the GEPers kinda skew it a little bit for everyone, I've read some the work written by these kids and can nosebleed because they're so good! Really no horse run.
In any case...regardless of whichever school your son enters....do communicate with the teachers and talk to your son more to manage his anxiety problem. My ds is also going to P1 next year and he was saying that he wasn't looking fwd to it at all. :yikes:
There is YMCA student care on the premises, not sure of the vacancies available. -
Any parents out there registering their born in year 2010 child at Poi Ching Sch ? Hope to know parents who are doing so! Moving forward , I think it'll be nice to have some sort of rapport as the kids starts Pri 1 in year 2017 :frustrated:

I am currently reading up and find out more out how to get into Phase 2B for my son… Seems like got 2 options : a recommendation letter from GRC or Hilda’s church
Can I know for grassroot community, do we need to sign up as volunteer to start off?
how about the church? would appreciate if you can share… thanks -
I will register my son for Primary 1 next year. But I'm not sure if Chongzheng Primary or Tampines Primary School is better academically?
I don't know anyone from these 2 schools, but reckon that since they are neighbourhood schools it may not be so stressful.
Any parents with advice?
