      grimm:

I agree that many will go for Phase 2A1 but it could also end up such that the total alumni applicants will be more than the vacancies for Phase 2 and we will be balloting at 2A1  Then the distance between school and home factor will come into play.....

No matter how policies are tweaked, somebody gets hurt.....
so next year more will join alumni and then one fine day even Phase 2A1 would face balloting. then many will cry foul.

P1 registration is getting more stressful šŸ˜“ Moving up from 2C -> 2B -> 2A2. Next year, more will join alumni.. So phase 2A1 will no longer be stress-free :nailbite:

Nanyang, Henry Park and ACS Primary are already oversubscribed at phase 2A2. One more day to go, I think parents trying CAtholic High School and St Nicholas are crossing their fingers.

Looks like Acs primary, nanyang primary and Henry park are confirmed schools requiring balloting at 2a2. MOE website 12 July update is out!

Now that these 3 named schools likely to enter balloting at Phase 2a(2) :
next year batch of students (born 2011) due for P1 registration, should join Phase 2a(1), to avoid balloting

Parents of children born 2011 would have to join as alumni by 30 Jun 2016 to qualify for Phase 2A(1), so it would be too late if they have not done so by now...

Yet, most likely will happen, to the 3 schools.

But if is the year of Dragon, Yes, expect balloting in Phase 2A(1)

Who would have imagined this year would be so hot?

Balloting in phase 2A2 :yikes: come 2018, I guess balloting will take place in more schools which have phase 2A1.

Uhhhhhh... In case it escapes the minds of some of you, balloting at Phase 2A(1) had already happened last year . So it's not one fine day anymore.

Also, joining alumni may not avoid balloting. According to MOE website, only registration at Phase (1) is guaranteed. All the subsequent phases can be subject to balloting should the number of applicants exceeds the number of vacancies.

That's true - I guess everyone was hoping that was an outlier. Guess this should be expected once places are being reserved for non-alumni.

Nevertheless, ioining the alumni may not avoid balloting but it's still better than any other option for now. Except it will be almuni + living nearby. šŸ˜„

I'm just thankful that there is no balloting for 2A1 this year for my son. I will let him worry about his son if / when that day comes.... šŸ˜‚

I think many of you have forgotten that Phase 2A(2) is not only for parents who didn't join alumni but also include siblings that were former students.

                      (a) For a child whose parent or sibling has studied in the primary school of choice

This group could possibly be the ones that have registered.

Nobody expect Tiger year, to be so hot

Since there is a surge in demand to join Phase 2A(1), in those 3 named schools, since now they enter balloting at Phase 2A(2), if these 3 schools want, they can increase the alumni fees
