Jocose75:
if you're registering your son next year July 2017, for 2018 P1 intake (born 2011) -Oh dear my boy will going for registration next year for 2018 intake. My husband is ex Acsp but not alumni and we're living >2km away.
If we fail in getting him a placement in phase 2A2 next year, will we still qualify for phase 2b and 2c.
I really have no idea how this system works as we've been living abroad for many years.
your husband should have joined ACS (primary) Alumni association as a member under Phase 2A(1), not later than 30 June 2016.
if you're a Methodist church member :
you qualify for Phase 2B, can consider other Methodist primary schools like
Geylang Methodist primary, Fairfield Methodist primary, if no need to ballot.
if you're a Catholic church member :
you qualify for Phase 2B, can consider other Catholic primary schools like eg
Maris Stella, Catholic High, St Gabriel, Holy Innocent, Montfort, St Joseph (Junior), provided no need to ballot, from where you stay.
if you're an Anglican church member :
you qualify for Phase 2B, can consider other Anglican primary schools like
St Andrew Junior, St Hilda primary, provided no need to ballot, from where you stay.
if you're a Presbyterian church member :
you qualify for Phase 2B, can consider other Presbyterian primary schools like
Pei Hwa Presbyterian primary, provided no need to ballot, from where you stay. -

As already shared by phtthp, old boys do not enjoy priority in Phase 2B. It's only for grassroot leaders and members of churches/clans.Thanks for all the replies. Only now then I realized how complex our local p school system is. Feel so bad for my boy
our oversight. Should have checked this out earlier. But my understanding is phase 2b is only for grassroots, pv...can old boys qualify?
Looks like worse case for him would be either Pei Hwa primary or Bukit Timah primary. We r within 2km zone.
Sorry to say, but within 2km zone, only Bukit Timah Primary is safe for you. You might not even get to ballot if you want to register for Pei Hwa as they often have balloting for those within 1km zone. -

It's a shame that your hubby didn't join the alumni. Thanks for all the replies. Only now then I realized how complex our local p school system is. Feel so bad for my boy

But I hear good things about Bukit Timah so do consider. (my ex-colleagues' kids are there). I'm not sure Pei Hwa is a good fit for the typical ACS boy offspring
since our Chinese is normally quite bad and Pei Hwa is a SAP school.

Well as discussed, there’s nothing we can do now except to wait and see. Even renting a place there’s a cut off date? Pei Hwa a SAP school? I thought it’s just a neighborhood school like Bukit Timah.
-
Renting no cut off date except you must reflect the change and in your IC and rent it for at least 30 months from the point of registration.
-
If I have 30 months to registration I'd have got my Hubby to join alumni
right? -

There is no cut off date for rental as long as you can complete the documents on time. Not sure whether you can use rental agreement to register, so to be safe you need to update the address in you NRICs.
The only restriction is only the 30-month rule, so you have to make sure that your landlord will allow you to rent for at least 30 months. -
So you mean we need to stay at least 30mths and can be anytime before registration? Whether it’s owned or rented premise?
-
Yes it’s 30 months after registration. Preferably slightly earlier so that you can change the address on your NRIC
-
Thanks for the info. At least it’s something that we can consider.
