Balloting out in the earlier 6-point choice will guarantee being posted to the 7-point next choice because you have 6 points, which is better than the cut-off. If you have to ballot at the 7-point choice, you won't even have the chance to ballot at the 6-point earlier choice.

The pessimist in me says that this will never happen. There will also be some school deemed better than others for some reason or other. The question that I have is: is it really that bad to have different schools with different performance levels?

This is the stress that those who had gone throughout balloting in p1 could identify. Balloting for a place in primary school is slightly better as you know your chance and could decide if you want to take it. Else go for the next nearest school.

But the new psle system, what do we know....only the points.

My understanding is the balloting is no difference for O level to JC posting and so far have not heard major glitches. But I do recognise perhaps new statistics need to be collected for PSLE posting.

Yes, but if it was originally indicated as a 7-point school used as a 2nd choice by many 6-pointers, it would mean balloting could happen at the 7-point school for 6-pointers. I'm just responding to your earlier point that \"Balloting out in the earlier 6-point choice will guarantee being posted to the 7-point next choice because you have 6 points\". A strong likelihood, yes. Guaranteed? No.

No, they recognise diversity. They just want people to stop being too kiasu, choose the school that best fits their ability/interests, and accept that my school is as good as yours in my eyes!
