      KSSY:
Hi, i am currently staying at Novena area and i have another house (empty) at Bukit Merah area. The Novena house is < 1km from ACSJ/ACSP/SJIJ while my another house in Bukit Merah is < 1km from Alexandra Primary.

My preference is not to move and to enrol my kid at ACSJ, ACSP or SJIJ, provided that we dont need to go for balloting. However, if balloting is required, i am toying with the idea to try for Alexandra (more vacancies) by moving to my Bukit Merah house on the last day of the Phase2C registration i.e. 29 Jul (Fri). However, before the move, on 27 Jul (Wed), i would have apply for ACSJ/ACSP/SJIJ using my current Novena address?

Does anyone knows if there are any restrictions to do that? Not sure if it is wise to do that. Troubled. Thanks.
SJIJ should be quite safe for <1km in Phase 2C. But like some had suggested, you should not register using 2 different addresses, especially under the same phase. MOE will notice and you will be questioned.

There will be announcement if ballot is needed - parents would know during registration which distance they fall under and therefore if they are subject to balloting or already in. I don't know and doubt if school will call each and every parent up to inform them of balloting. Just monitor the news. Balloting day is school dependent and parents won't need to be on the spot to be successful.

Yes, phase 2C Supp is for those who failed to get into a school in the earlier phases. Note that this phase may be subject to balloting also in case of overwhelming demand.

The schools conducting balloting must at least let the parents know if they are eligible for ballot or not and if they are successful or not successful in ballot. Otherwise how will parents know. MOE doesn't provide the information in its website. You can do online registration in phase 2C. So how can the school inform parents at registration? Plus you can't tell until the last day as some parents may withdraw and apply at the last minute.Surely the school doesn't want each parent to individually call them. Does anyone with experience in previous ballots for other children please advise. :?

My apologies if I was wrong but when I registered (before time of electronic entry), I was informed on the spot that my address was within 1KM. Thereafter, we would monitor tv text (it's just 6 years ago la) about the stats. Letter informing successful registration came much later.

Perhaps different schools do differently. I think it will be best for parents to do their own monitoring - remember that parents only look at one school whilst administrators look at so many parents and may be overwhelmed (not to mention there are parents who call to ask for stats).

          [quote=\"ruhuasee\"]Hi parents,

can anyone help me with these questions:-

1)for phase 2C, after result announce on Wednesday (3 Aug), the school will then inform me if i need to go for ballot right? The ballot will be done on which date?

          2) Phase 2C supplementary ( 11 Aug-12 Aug) - This date is for people who can't get into the school after even balloting right?

          Thanks a million...

It was already indicated on my registration form the time and date of balloting, should there be one. Not sure how the other schools will go about informing.

Moe will update its website after the phase 2C ends, the list of schools that will be conducting balloting. It will indicate clearly if the balloting is for SC or SPR, whether it is within 1km, 1-2km or >2km. This information will only be updated nearer to the result day, 3rd Aug.

            Newbie here.

Will be registering my son in SAJS under phase 2C, and i live <1km according to the map provided.
What are his chances? And also, will the fact that he has missing father information on his BC affect his chances? Is it definitely impartial to kids of single parents?
            TIA!

Not sure about chances for SAJS but I don’t think it matters if the kids are from single parent families or not.

Singapore is quite disappointing with being fair to single mums but they have always spelt out their discrimination in black and white so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Best of luck in any case

                Thanks!!

                I hope so, really hope.
Fact is i registered as a PV, they called me up for the breifing, i signed the papers to be a volunteer but they never called me up for any duties. That's why i was worried if it was due to my son's family background. My friends who registered as PV all served and got in the school already. so... :xedfingers: i hope my child is not ostracized or judged for MY situation.

Hi according to data from last couple of years balloting was required for 1-2km range. No balloting was required for less than 1km. However there are many projects that have TOP recently around SAJS

If you had registered as a PV, shouldn't you get into Phase 2B? Why Phase 2C?

I ‘should’ be in phase 2B, but they never called me up for any duties, I didn’t serve a single hour. I checked with them on which phase I should be in and never got a reply, so I’m only assuming I’m in phase 2C. The MOE website says 40 hrs must be served, not just by registering myself. shrug also don’t know why they never called me up for any volunteering duties.

Sometimes, it does pay to be a little more proactive... or, as they say, kiasu, when it comes to things like these. Don't wait for them to call you. Call them or actually go meet up with them directly for projects.

In any case, it is water under the bridge, so just go with the flow and hope for the best. Good luck for SAJS next Friday.
