For the past 5 years the minimum total applicants for within 1km number of applicants for ACSP and ACSJ combined is 70. Profile of applicants’ threshold for ballot is usually at most 1.2X (ratio of 6:5). This suggest that the applicants who wait for the last day try to slot in nicely. There are of course those who already secured a place and watching the status closely and see if they would want to give up the confirmed place. And parents at ACSP will face a test of strength who will give up first to hope over to other schools.

For those who are more than 1 km, please be prepared to move. It’s likely the spare seats left in the school are being eye on.

Yes, if somehow 11 parents within 1km from ACSP also live within 1km from ACSJ, they will move to ACSJ on Fri and might cause ACSJ to ballot for applicants <1km.

Some parents who also live within 1km from SJIJ might decide to go to SJIJ directly if balloting in both ACS schools is imminent.

seats for SJIJ under 1km seems more secure. Only 18 under 1km at closing today. I think between the two acs schools (if both had to undergo ballot) chances of getting a space is higher in junior since more seats are available.

Dilemma... If i withdraw from acsp to avoid ballot but end up ballotting at acsj, would be very silly 😞 Sjij might be a safer option to re-register.

Just wondering, when would be the best time to decide to withdraw and register in another school. Reckon lot of parents are in the same situation. Afraid might miss the 4.30pm cut-off. Thanks.

A lot of parents will be playing this mind game around 4pm tomorrow. You should call up both ACSJ and SJIJ to help you predict the odds. Who knows 11 parents <1km decide to withdraw and ACSP once again escape balloting?

The struggle of my neighbor is becoming so real; they also pulled out of ACSJ last year for SJIJ to avoid a ballot on the last day (which they mentioned to secure). My turn this year and the deja vu feeling returns in another form.

day 3! really wondering if my friend who moved within 1km of ACPS/ACJS/SJI will get his choice ACPS - ironically, if he sticks to this "premier school" with few seats, there may be a repeat of last year when everybody else flocks to ACJS to have a better chance of a secure seat (lower ratio), and he gets his seat without balloting. i wonder how many people do the same thing and why hasn’t more people caught onto doing the same?

I guess it’s a waiting game - Do you wait too long and miss your chance to get into somewhere else where the numbers look better? Since the choices are not sequential, everyone can end up deciding to go elsewhere at the same time.

Likely parents who stay on at acsp are willing to face ballot or just don’t live between 1km of acjs/SJIJ. Last year they were just lucky. Hopefully the numbers even out and both schools don’t need to go ballot. All the best!
