that;s why i changed my strategy .. go HIPS i think in the long run ... 2 years in temp location out of 6 years primary school education and my gal can go in phase 1 in 4 years time ... still worth doing it but just now my queue no is #63 think also will ballot already

Queue # has no bearing on your chances. It's for admin purpose. :heresmyfish:

NCPS in SK is getting very hot as there are more & more flats/condos coming up <1km, & still have more coming up, so with more housing built up around the area, the demands will continue to grow until the surrounding area is built up, so those staying >1km can don't even bother to try NCPS.

As for the demand in earlier phases not as high, don't forget NCPS stopped accepting PV in 2014, that means only thru RC or Huey Kuan, so maybe we're starting to see the effect for this year's registration.
        NCPS has Bicep.

floppy, I don’t think you are being an a-hole.

I don’t think anyone will do it for fun. They are serious about putting their kids there and they are taking the same risk anyone else if they don’t get picked. The difference they are waiting for as much information as possible before making their choice. I would do the same

i think those people asking for balloting stats online and really want to know for sure had better go down to the separate schools and check board/ask school staff liao. most parents are either too harrassed/stressed/understandably acting in self-interest to update with accurate stats. don’t get caught offguard with wrong/inaccurate stats when it matters to your choice at this point.

Agreed. I also empathise with the staff or volunteer manning the phones next few hours. What a job!

We are soon to be in the later half of the 3rd day. Anyway at the end of today, may those who have the end of day breakdown for any school(after 430pm), please kindly list them out so that it will be written in our KSP treasure map. There are tons of clues and findings within this KSP map, just a matter of whether we can find it, dig it out, study it and appreciate it then make valuable/wise/informed decision.

                  All the best.

It's just due to the number of young families living around the area. What I don't understand is why Sengkang Green is so much more popular than Springdale given that they were both new schools set up at the same time (2012).

Maybe its due to the school leaders?

Springdale and Sengkang Green serve different catchment area. Those who are within 1 km of Springdale will most likely be within 1 km of Nan Chiau. Knowing that there is an ok new school which still have many spaces for Phase 2CS, they will be more likely to try their luck at Nan Chiau at Phase 2C.

As for Sengkang Green, the other alternative within 1 km is likely to be Fernvale. I am not sure what is the problem with FernVale, but parents would rather give Sengkang Green a shot at Phase 2C.[/quote]SKG's P is good at marketing and branding her school. They tie up with preschool chains and allow K2 kids to visit their campus as part of their preschool field trips.

If you visit SKG's and NCPS's websites (and a few others like Horizon and Rivervale), you'll find that they are well-organised and informative, unlike some SK or Punggol neighbourhood schools' websites. SKG's P and VP even posted their own resumes to show that they've a good track record (e.g. SKG's P was a National Day awardee). It shows the leaders have pride in what they do.

SK and Punggol residents will have intimate knowledge of which pri schs in their village are the better ones; they exchange notes with their DC's kindergarten classmates' parents and neighbours at the playgrounds or tuition centres. Some SK and PGL neighbourhood schools are known to set very difficult papers and give tough tingxie/moxie from P1. Some offer more interesting CCAs.

Word of mouth about current school leaders count too. There's been an annual reshuffling of well-regarded Ps to neighbourhood schools by MOE since 2013. Previous well-regarded Ps from some SK/PG schools might have left, so some may have reservations about certain schools and shun them.

Last contributory factor would be the availability school-based student care. SKG and NCPS have BASC on campus. Not sure if others in SK and PGL have and how big their intake is.

Anyway, I've gone OT. Back to the live stats updates! :siam:

There'll always be punters who don't want see others have it easy i.e. escape balloting, so they will put in their applications at the last minute, particularly if they know they are <1km and stand an equal chance as other earlier applicants.

                      I'll probably be that a****le.

If there are 22 applicants for 22 vacancies in the last hour and I'm as eligible as the other 22, I'll probably put my name into the hat. If it forces a ballot, so be it. Parents should recognise that registration isn't first come first serve (and 23 choose 22 is pretty good odds).

So honest . Not 'probably' but definitely an a****le . Heee
