The popular schools in Bt Merah require balloting for those in the less than 1 km category. So, yes, seems like you don't have much choice unless you relocate. Perhaps around Kim Tian?

No worries. You will still be complying to MOE's rules if you do that.

Just wondering. We are currently staying in Dover but are planning to move to the east somewhere to follow the company relocation. We have not bought nor rented a new place in the east. Can we use the current Dover address and register our child in one of the schools in the east? We will select a school that has more vacancies than registered applicants. Thanks.

You certainly can.

You will simply fall under the more-than-2km group.
If you choose a school which does not require balloting,
as you mentioned you would, then there should not be
any problem getting a place in the school.

If we were to rent an apartment within 1km of the school we have to reside there for at least 30mths.

What happens when the owner decides to sell due to unforeseen circumstances? Or decides not to continue with the current lease (even when contract is signed for 30mths)?

You will have to rent another unit within the same distance to the school as the original unit.

I am not sure i can use Phase 2C method to choose the said favorite school or not since the new rule require atleast 30 month of staying within than area.Please advice for me and thank you in advance.

The rule requires your child to stay at the registered address only if distance prioritisation was used to get her a place in the school, eg. if you got in through a Phase that required balloting. If the school was not oversubscribed when you registered, you don't have to worry about your address at all.

The 30 months start from the point of registration, and not how long you stayed at the place before registration.

Sorry, to correct you.

There is only Cedar primary school : which is a co-ed school (meaning : both boys & girls study together)
There isn't any Cedar girls primary school

However, for the Secondary section : Cedar Girls' Secondary school, do exist.
But, note that girls from Cedar primary (co-ed) are NOT affliated to Cedar Girls' Secondary.


note :
Maris Stella primary is an \"All-boys\" primary school, not for girls.
You need to choose another school, for your eldest daughter.
