Anglo Chinese Family of Schools

I considered application from a different angle - would really like my kids to grow up in a Christian environment (at least more-inclined). Thought it spoke really well of the school when the admin asked us to pray just before cut-off time. Thanks all, can I consult fellow parents on another topic?
Both my wife and I are salaried employees, but we managed to afford a 3beds Newton condo.
I heard there are many rich kids in ACS, can ask is it suitable for us to send kids into ACS? e.g. When comparing to Pei Hwa?
The Pros for ACS in my eyes are: affiliated schools, strong alumni, more exposure other than academic
Pros for Pei Hwa is: better mix of students, better Chinese
Thanks all again.
Guess my point is what matters more to you for the above. -

Indeed. Whether materialism and/or elitism, they are both real challenges.

Gpliu3,
Like any of the schools on Bukit Timah belt, there is a higher percentage of students who come from higher income families.
But it will not be just rich kids because the alumni send their sons there from all over the island and not all of us are rich, contrary to popular belief.
In terms of diversity, some say SAP schools have less diversity because of the strong Chinese focus. So go figure.
Do note both are difficult to get in if you are going via 2C route so advance planning and a backup will be good. -

Gpliu3, presumably you are an alum for Pei Hwa as 2B or 2C for > 2 is likely to require balloting, as with both of the ACS schools for 2C?gpliu3:

Hi ngpetert, I am not an alumni for Pei Hwa(I wish I am!). Now still deciding where to buy a place. Either Newton(ACS) or Upper BT (Pei Hwa), as the 2 have a better chance in 2C.
Hi all, thanks for your warm replies. -

Hi all, thanks for your warm replies.
Before you zoom into the 2C, consider other factors.
You and your spouse's alma mater school (2A)
Any affiliation for 2B.
Number of children and boy or girl
On 2C: You have more options as you are intending to get a place. You should place yourself in a better location. Eg Pei Hwa - MGS area or ACSP/ACSJ/SJIJ area. If you are decided on either Pei Hwa or ACSP, you must move on to select your backup plans since you Pei Hwa should not be a back up for ACSP and vice versa due to distance. Remember one point: the more your options, the more complex the plan can be. -

Hi all, thanks for your warm replies.
Just take note that both ACSP and ACSJ are usually conducting balloting for applicants <1km in Phase 2C, so you need to have a backup plan should you are balloted out. -
The results are out!!! Just called the school …
-
For SC <1km who didn’t manage to get in, are they able to move to another popular school that also goes under balloting for 2C?

I don't think so. By the end of 2C, all the popular schools would have been filled up. They can only go to the less popular schools in 2C Sup. -

Unfortunately MOE does not allow participation in earlier phases once they are over. ChiefKiasu has listed schools with available places. See main page articles under 2C supp. You can choose a school that still has vacancies.
