      BigMomma:
      How is SJIJ in comparison?

      SJIJ went for balloting more than 2 km this year. Last year ballot in phase 2C was bet 1 to 2 km. If you are SC within 1 km and applying to SJIJ in phase 2C, it should be quite safe. But if ACSP and ACSJ are oversubscribed, many parents will head over to SJIIJ on last day of phase 2C. None of these schools will have places for 2C supp though.

        Thanks for your replies. Is SJIJ reputable compared to ACS? I know a few ministers and president scholars are from there but just wondering how’s the academic and social circle there.

          BigMomma,

          Not sure what you define as reputable but both are good schools with their fair share of distinguished old boys (see below).

          SJI: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Joseph%27s_Institution,_Singapore#Notable_alumni
          ACS:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Chinese_School#Notable_alumni

          I would add that ACS offers multiple paths at secondary school: IB, Express, Normal are all offered) and historically heavily favors students from their affiliated primary schools.

          SJI does not offer Normal stream and does not seem seem to favor their affiliates as much.

          (Note that With the change in PSLE scoring, treatment of affiliates are not unknown at this stage)

            Not sure where I can find the following information:-

            This year, how many students registered under 2C for ACSP and ACSJ respectively? Among those applicants, how many applicants are SC within 1km?

            Many thanks!

              For both schools, balloting this year was done for SC <1km in Phase 2C. It means the number of applicants at the end of Phase 2C registration is roughly the number of SC <1km. You can take out 1 or 2 from there as there might be SC >1km or SPR who didn't manage to withdraw on time.

              Go to balloting history and you can easily calculate the rough number:
              ACSP = 135% x 8% x 240 = 25 (rounded down) for 20 seats
              ASCJ = 133% x 18% x 270 = 64 (rounded down) for 49 seats

                This year 2016,

                ACSP = 24 SC within 1km at 2C balloting for 20 places

                ACSJ = 52 SC within 1km at 2C balloting for 49 places

                  SJIJ = all 25 SCs within 1km are in without needing to ballot at 2C

                    Hi,

                    My husband is not an alumni for acsp nor acsj.
                    What are the criteria to try to get into either school then besides being within 1km to both schools?
                    Great thanks

                      Is he a Methodist church member, or a staff of either school?

                        He’s attending baptism class now coz he was away from Singapore for past 20 years. In order to renew his church membership he was told by the church to attend baptism classes again.
